In case you didn’t realize what you’re in store for, we are here to talk about Age of Ultron. Marvel has really been hyping this event, and with good reason. This has been in the works for a while now, and so far everything released has looked very interesting. Brian Michael Bendis has been hinting towards Age of Ultron for a few years, and helping him bring it to life will be Brandon Peterson, Carlos Pacheco, and Bryan Hitch, who is no stranger to the Avengers.
A new trailer was released for the upcoming event that only adds to the hype. Let’s check that out first:
I love how the trailer is really emphasizing that this is not an alternate reality or a story set in the future. That obviously brings up a lot of questions, but we still have more teasers to look at. First are a few more of the Submit or Perish teasers, featuring classic armor Iron Man and an ominous looking Hawkeye.
And you can’t have a new Marvel series without including a new Skottie Young cover. I think this might be my favorite of the Marvel NOW! Young variants, and it certainly adds a bit of humor to an otherwise bleak looking storyline so far. Included here is the synopsis for the first issue that features the variant cover.
Also recently teased is the tie-in issue from Remender’s Uncanny Avengers that features some potential major players in the future of the Marvel U. Other series mentioned to have tie-ins will be Superior Spider-Man, Avengers Assemble, Wolverine and the X-Men, Fantastic Four and a series called Ultron.
“We’ve been setting up the role of Apocalypse, the Apocalypse Twins in the Marvel Universe, and with this issue readers get their first in-depth look at them AND a MAJOR reveal in regards to Kang’s involvement in it all,” explained Remender. “It also hints at a big future romance we’re developing. Do not miss this issue.”
With the robotic revolution in full force, no fan can miss how Age of Ultron will ultimately change the Marvel Universe leaving no hero or villain unscathed!
“When Rick first told me about the Uncanny Avengers I was floored – it’s such a fun book with so many threads are being woven together. Fans are only starting to see the hints of where this run is going,” explained Duggan. “Age Of Ultron asks one of the greatest questions fans have been wondering for decades, what if Ultron won?! And throughout the event, people are going to love seeing these dominoes…and characters fall. The story I’m cooking up with Rick and Adam is a fun, but important story that marries two timelines, and I’m just thrilled to be a part of it in some small way.”
And finally, the biggest teaser of the bunch comes from the cover of Age of Ultron #7, which shows us a motley crew of characters that have clearly been put through the ringer. The tagline along with the image is Do or Die, which seems quite apt:
I’m assuming this is the potential aftermath of the Age of Ultron, and the team of survivors is pretty interesting. Obviously we see Wolvy in his brown and gold, and a cyborg’ed out Cyclops who looks more like his son Cable than his current self. Also, Captain America is either sporting a new Nick Fury like scar, or that could even be Cable wearing the stars and stripes. Dr. Strange looks pretty normal, but Thing and Hulk have obviously seen better days. What’s really interesting is the Captain Marvel inspired Wasp and the inclusion of Star-Lord, wearing his original costume. Leads to a lot of questions that we will probably ahve to wait for Mya for.
This event is warming up to be a huge one for the Marvel U., which of course every event is hyped up to be. This will be an interesting collection of heroes fighting one of the worst villains Marvel has to offer, and I for one am pumped up for it.
The Age of Ultron begins in March!
