We reported last week that Vin Diesel was set for a meeting with the Marvel Studios crew, and according to his Facebook page that meeting has in fact happened. Diesel went on to his FB page to briefly discuss his meeting and offer a few teased as to who he could be playing in a future film:
[box_light]”Marvel meeting today… Only the people in the room can tell you what was discussed… P.s. Thanks to Our page, for pushing to make it happen… you know I get tunnel vision with my work… and after that meeting today… wow!”[/box_light]
So apparently the meeting went well, and he dropped a not too subtle hint about who he may be playing in the future. Before we discuss that, let’s take a look at a pic he posted along with his message:
As you can see, Vin took a picture inside Marvel HQ that features the cover to The Avengers #2, which could very well be a subtle hint that he will be appearing in The Avengers 2. Or it could give a hint as to who he’s playing, such as Giant-Man (which is unlikely as Hank Pym is Giant Man as well as Ant-Man, and Diesel wouldn’t be anybody’s first choice to play the character) or maybe even a Space Phantom.
The Space Phantoms are servants of Immortus, the Lord of Time (who is the future version of Kang the Conqueror if you weren’t already confused) and can perfectly assimilate anyone, which obviously poses a threat to the Avengers. The Space Phantoms have been involved in many key moments of the Avengers history, albeit in a secretive role that no one really discovers until it’s way too late.
The most obvious clue Diesel drops is in his announcement of the meeting, in which he describes his tunnel VISION when he works. This obviously is referencing the rumors he himself created when he campaigned to play the android known as Vision, who becomes an important part of the Avengers mythology.
Personally, I think he would make a terrible Vision, and would prefer he played another role entirely. There are a ton of upcoming movies that we are still wiating on confirmation for, with a ton of roles that he would be better suited for, I’m sure. Just not the Vision, who shouldn’t be brought into the Avengers yet anyway. Let’s let Ant-Man have his moment, so he can create Ultron and then Ultron can create Vision and everybody will go home happy. Give Doug Jones a call when that time comes.
