Best Buds: 8 Pairs of Lifelong Super Friends

Good friends are important, and best buds even more so. Someone who has your back, and who will be there when the chips are down. And of course, a heavily super powered friend that shares your own values, motivations, and love for extremely tight uniforms has to be pretty much the best thing ever.

There have been a lot of great pairings over the years in the comic book world, from best friends to friendly rivals. With more than a few friends taking each other on in the theaters next year with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Captain America: Civil War, it’s important to take stock of these friendships that have developed on-screen and in the comics for years. Sure, they’re fighting now, but chances are after the battle they’ll all go and grab a few beers and bro out over the battle.

There are quite a few more great friendships among the superhero community, buddies that have been through the thick and the thin, fought each other more times than they could count, and have even survived the ‘finality’ of death (at least until the inevitable rebirth). Let’s take a look at some Superhero Best Buds that have survived the test of time.

Christmas Curmudgeons: GB’s Favorite Holiday Villains

Christmas is almost here, and its time to celebrate the holidays by taking a look at some of our favorite Christmas curmudgeons!

Many a holiday tradition involve annual viewings of various holiday classics that embody the spirit of Christmas. These films almost always feature a heroic character who perseveres through hardship or learns a valuable lesson due to the spirit of the season, and countless families have bonded over these classic films for years.

But where would these heroic characters be if not for the Christmas villains who threaten the merry holidays time and time again? And by villains, we mean a bit more than a warm breeze that takes out Frosty or the frozen pole that tantalizes youthful tongues. No, we will be taking a look at the vilest of the villains that we watch each and every year to celebrate the holidays.

Super Saturdays: The 20 Best Superhero Cartoons, Part I

I’ve always been a big fan of cartoons. Any and all cartoons really, but like most of my passions in life, anything superhero related automatically took precedence. So it’s no surprise that I have been a huge fan of the various superhero animated series that have aired over the years on the various networks. Thankfully, my love for cartoons never disappeared as I got older, much to the chagrin of my parents, friends, and love interests.

Yes, love interests. It’s rare to find that special someone who doesn’t mind a multi-season marathon of the numerous Batman series that have aired over the years, but it’s something I have accepted. Because I live for the multi-season marathon, so that isn’t going to change anytime soon. I’m getting a little off topic here, and possibly airing my desperate loneliness to the world at large, so we should move on.

As I started looking through my collection to determine the next series I should line up for a marathon, I began thinking that not everyone has the collection or desire to really sit down and get into some of these cartoons, especially with so many out there. So, like any self-respecting (and horribly alone) comic book cartoon fan I felt it was my duty to create the following list to share with you, and to help decide what exactly I am going to watch next, and what you should start with.

Everybody wins. Mainly I win, though.

The Man Who Laughs: The 20 Greatest Joker Moments, Part IV

Welcome to the final installment of Grizzlybomb’s Greatest Joker Moment’s Ever! Brian Kronner and I (Scott Fraser) took a look through our memory warehouse and compiled a list of those moments that we felt made Joker who he is today. Obviously with the New 52/DCYou reboots the Joker of today may or may not have been affected by these moments, but we will look past that to continue to celebrate the awesomeness of the Clown Prince of Crime.

<<< Previous, Part III

Whether he’s duking it out with Batman, intimidating fellow criminals, making time with Harley Quinn, or terrorizing the Bat family he is always in the forefront of the Bat titles, and is well-regarded as the ultimate Bat-villain. No other member of Batman’s rogue gallery has caused the level of pain and suffering to the city of Gotham quite like the Joker has, and the remaining moments on our list further prove this. So enough of the chit-chat, let’s get to it.

Countdown to Halloween: Our 15 Favorite Scream Queens

The definition of Scream Queen states that any actress who has become associated with horror films, either through an appearance in a notable entry in the genre as a frequent victim or through constant appearances as the female protagonist is a scream queen. While the definition is inclusive to a number of our favorite actresses in the genre, it doesn’t offer any criteria to select our favorites.

Is it just the quantity of horror films that denotes a scream queen? What about the scream itself? Do the sound and pitch of the scream itself play a factor? Can an actresses’ role in one film justify their consideration as a scream queen, even if that scream is an iconic portrayal of the trope? We’ll take a look at that today as we continue to celebrate the Countdown to Halloween with our 15 Favorite Scream Queens.

Some of the following clips may be NSFW, or graphic in nature.

Rick and Morty’s Five Most SQUANCHING Episodes of the Best Show You’re Not Watching

Adult Swim has put out some really strange shows before, and while Rick and Morty is nothing but strange, it is almost undeniably one of the best shows on TV right now. Rick and Morty was created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon (Community), and maintains a steadily increasing 9.3 rating on IMDB.

The animated brilliance revolves around an always drunk, constantly burping, genius scientist named Rick Sanchez, and his painfully average grandson Morty Smith. Episode to episode they travel through space and time, either saving the world, or putting it and other worlds in danger, usually both. Two seasons and 21 episodes later, the show continues to gain speed and deliver stellar  entertainment value. Not only does this show have laugh out loud humor, but it is exceptionally intelligent.

So without further fluffing, here’s our five favorite episodes:

SPOILERS – Obviously…
