New Trailer: ‘Super’ – The newest movie you’ll never see.

Super is the latest in a long line of superhero movies. But it’s not like Superman or Captain America, even if his name and appearance draw comparisons to both. It’s more like the underrated Kick-Ass or Defendor. The synopsis is below:

After his wife falls under the influence of a drug dealer, an everyday guy transforms himself into Crimson Bolt, a superhero with the best intentions, though he lacks for heroic skills.

Rainn Wilson plays the Crimson Bolt, and is joined by Ellen Page (Left), who plays his sidekick. Liv Tyler plays the wife and Kevin Bacon the drug dealer. The movie also features Captain Malcom Reynolds Nathan Fillion.

It’s from the IFC, so it’s likely to be less funny and more depressing than the trailer would indicate, but I hear it’s worth a watch. Here is the trailer:

The reason I say you’ll never see this is bcause this isn’t a wide release thing. It’s gonna be hard for a lot of you to find this, but I know in the Detroit Area it’s opening this Friday at the Royal Oak Art Theater. I think I’ll be there.

New Trailer: ‘Cat Run’

Over the weekend, as I was writing my Lincoln Lawyer review, I stumbled across the trailer for a movie called Cat Run. It looked interesting so I thought I’d share it. The trailer looks good, and it has a 7.2 on IMDb which isn’t terrible, so it may be worth a watch.

paz-vega-2

Plus Paz Vega and ‘Shooter McGavin’ are both in it, so that’s always good.

The movie’s synopsis:

When a sexy, high-end escort holds the key evidence to a scandalous government cover-up, two bumbling young detectives become her unlikely protectors from a ruthless assassin hired to silence her.

Anyhow, here’s the trailer…

There is also a Red Band trailer available at the Official Website.

The movie came out on Friday, so if anyone has seen it, I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on it in the comment section, just below the following video…

Green Lantern Preview: Wonder Con 2011

Wonder Con has brought us quite a collection of geek tidbits this year. None of them quite stack up to the spectacular four-minute preview of the forthcoming Green Lantern movie. After watch the preview I was awestruck. It seemed as if they got everything right or at least looking comparable to the comics. Abin Sur and Sinestro looked like their comic counterparts, while Oa and it’s inhabitants were simply beautiful in their scale and variety.

We finally were able to get a good look at Tomar Re and plenty of other Green Lanterns including Kilowog! Before reading on you should just watch the footage already!

Not only do we get to see Tomar Re, we get to hear him speak with the voice talent of Geoffery Rush after it was announced several days ago. We still didn’t get to hear Kilowog speak but I was just satisfied to get another glimpse of him. Mark Strong seems to be doing a stellar performance as Sinestro giving an inspirational speech to a group of gathered Lanterns and it looks as if Parallax will play a large part in the movie.

If I was skeptical at all about this movie before, then it has all been wiped away by this preview. Even my skepticism of Ryan Reynold’s playing Hal Jordan has abated after seeing him in the preview. His costume looked a lot better when Jordan is in action and his humor wasn’t over the top. My favorite part was when his ring had created a replica of a mini-gun that Hal was unleashing on something.

Being a big fan of the Green Lantern comics and Sci-Fi movies, this movie has jumped past Thor and Captain America as my must see comic movie this year. It will be released on June 17th, 2011.

Conan the Barbarian – Reboot

Set to come out this August, we are finally starting to see some of the marketing for the new Conan movie. The movie stars Stargate: Atlantis alum Jason Momoa as everyone’s favorite Cimmerian.

Obviously he is no Arnold, but the merits of this casting choice really won’t to be known until we see the movie. Much of the other cast however, should be more familiar to you. Both Ron Perlman and Rose McGowan will both lend their talents for what seems like a good fit.

Well Lionsgate has released a teaser trailer and people are upset. The outrage come not from what they show in the teaser, but what they don’t. Take a look and see if you can figure it out…

Did you get it? Do you know what’s missing?

Of course you do.

It totally omitted the film’s villain – The Party Crasher.

The Party Crasher has been cast to play Khalar Singh, the movie’s antagonist. This is news we learned in May of 2010, and have since been patiently waiting to see footage. This is why, when we were delivered a teaser trailer that showed us nothing, we got upset.

We attempted to contact TPC, but he was too bust slaughtering film editors to be reached by phone.

Here’s to hoping the next trailer they release does a better job of portraying the true focus of the film, The Party Crasher.

Suggested revisions to the CONAN movie poster.
