For new groundbreaking shows on subjects you never expected to see on your TV, laptop or tablet screens, it seems that streaming services are the way to go.
Netflix has been super hot in this department recently. One of the greatest travesties in recent geekdom was the financial failure of the 2012 release of Dredd. Written and produced by Alex Garland (Ex Machina), and starring Karl Urban (Star Trek) and Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), Dredd corrected all the major wrongs perpetrated by the 1995 Sylvester Stallone led Judge Dredd. The film, one of the best of 2012, is estimated to have cost a modest (for a comic book movie) $35-50 million to produce, and pulled back only about $13 million during its theatrical run in the US ($41 million worldwide). Now the movie did find life in the secondary market with Blu-ray and On Demand rentals, making another $18 million or so, but it wasn’t enough for the studio to greenlight a sequel.
Fast forward a few years to last week, when the internet was all abuzz about a possible Dredd revival in the form of a NetFlix series.

One batch, two batch, penny and dime.

Marvel’s television department is absolutely killing it on NetFlix.

Now, just this past weekend we were delivered the third installment – Daredevil season 2. The reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, especially in reference to Frank Castle.

Matt Murdock, Foggy Nelson, and Karen Page attacked from different angles in season one, and their efforts combined to bring down the Kingpin and deliver us an excellent new series to binge. It was the first of the new Marvel shows on the streaming giant NetFlix, and it exceeded the expectations of most fans, setting a tone that Jessica Jones was able to beautifully followup.
Now here we are, into year two of Marvel’s NetFlix lineup, and before the Luke Cage show premieres September 30th, fan outcry has forced a second showing from the devil of Hell’s Kitchen. Today, the final trailer before Friday’s release dropped…

You know, you’re one bad day away from being me.
After a stellar freshman effort, the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen is set to return to NetFlix, this time with Elektra and the Punisher in tow. Now less than a month away, Matt Murdock and company will again star in a marathon of NetFlix binge-bait. And while promotional stuff was slow to appear the last few months, it’s now coming out at a remarkable rate. Posters and trailers and the promise of satisfaction for those who doubted that show runners could duplicate the quality of the first season.

Since Jessica Jones came out on Netflix not too long ago, it has been a major hit and already received the green light for season 2. No big surprises there. One of the main successes in the series was Trish Walker’s relationship with Jessica, and how that contributed to the sort of hero Jessica is, and ultimately was a profound factor in defeating the Purple Man. So it is again, no surprise that fans want more of Trish and are eagerly waiting her arrival as Hellcat.
