Now I want to caution anyone who is only a casual Iron Man fan such as myself who was just hoping for a Fear Itself tie-in. For the most part this is not one of those tie-ins. Granted, I liked the issue even if I didn’t comprehend what is going on fully from missing the first two parts of the arc. Salvador Larroca helped my like of the isssue immensely, because his style to me is just about perfect with the right colorist/inker which it was with the talents of Frank D’Armata. So besides it being written by Matt Fraction, the connection of Tony proposing to build a new city for the Asgardians and one of the Serpent’s falling hammers at the end, it really didn’t have much to do with Fear Itself.
Thankfully after the last chapter of Age of X, the story didn’t nosedive as I predicted it could. It finally revealed in this issue just what in the hell is going on in this strange world and also who is more than likely behind it. I still can’t figure out if everyone in the Age of X world is their counterpart in the real world or if they are entirely new characters, but either way the whole thing will get wrapped up in the next issue of New Mutants. For those of you wanting to spoiled, highlight everything after the word spoiler in the next paragraph.
Finally after a few months of name changes, production pictures, and a very brief clip of what I assume to be Caesar – Rise of the Planet of the Apes has its first trailer. And let me tell ya: It looks awesome. Check it out below:
Now for me that was both visually pleasing, and a little creepy looking. The apes themselves look awesome, but what do you expect from WETA. (They did the effects for Lord of The Rings and Avatar.)James Franco looks to be at his best in the trailer, playing ‘Doctor Will Rodman’ who is experimenting on apes to develop a drug that helps the brain reconstruct itself. As he stated in the trailer though, these experiments make the apes smarter. No big deal right? Wrong. As you can imagine these apes run rampant, paving the way for a planet ruled by them.

At first I was just relying on this movie to be decent at best and wait out a sequel, because we all know that’s when the real good stuff is going on. (Apes with guns on horseback! Heyyooo!) But this movie now looks like one with the potential to be very interesting and even scary in its own way. Also, the apes look way more realistic through motion capture instead of going the makeup route that Tim Burton went in his epic failure.

Rise of the Apes releases on August 5th this year, no longer sharing a release date with those little blue bastards The Smurfs. Count me as someone who can’t wait!

If you were a fan of the recent Tron: Legacy movie, then there is no doubt that this is the graphic novel for you. Betrayal not only explains what occurred in the first Tron movie, but covers the time span between that movie and the inevitable betrayal of Flynn by his codified likeness utility Clu.
Deadline reports that Universal will be making a movie based on the short story “8 O’Clock in the Morning”. It is the same story that was the basis for the Sci Fi cult classic They Live. It will be directed by Matt Reeves, who also helmed Let Me In and Cloverfield.
If you haven’t seen They Live, or at the very least don’t even know what it is, then I advise you start living and watch it. The story is simple. A drifter played by Rowdy Roddy Piper(yes, the wrestler) stumbles upon some sunglasses that can spot aliens that are living amongst us. Not only that, these ugly-looking bastards are mind numbing and controlling us through subliminal messages that make us into consumers who only value material goods. Piper of course goes on a rampage with my hero Keith David after they enjoy an epic 5 minute fight scene (cut with the South Park parody). It may be long but trust me, it’s five minutes well worth the time:
So even though this new movie is based on of the same story as They Live was, it’s not going to follow all of the elements from the John Carpenter version. That means no alien revealing sun glasses, and more than likely, no Roddy Piper! Blasphemy if you ask me.
They will instead opt to skip the glasses and rely on our protagonist having a ‘sudden realization’ and spotting the aliens after his epiphany. I feel like they really could have capitalized off of the 3D fad with this one. They is one of the few movies where the 3D glasses could’ve really been put to good use, maybe taken it a step further too. Perhaps they could have layered the film by having the 3D glasses serve the same purpose as the ones in the movie. You take them off, regular human on-screen, put them back on – formaldehyde face! Ah what could have been.
No word yet on expected release date, but there better at least be a Roddy Piper cameo in the movie somewhere.

So far I have liked the Camelot series. Pretty decent characters and storyline. And while the storyline has still been good, a couple characters themselves have started to take a nosedive of sorts. The couple characters I speak of are our main character Arthur and the now object of his affection Guinevere as the second half of this episode becomes a full blown love affair.
