‘Dredd’ 10 Sec Preview – His first words!

“Negotiations over!” Then I am guessing a bullet in the face?

Finally, Thanks to MACHINIMA we get some real footage of ‘Dredd’ even if it is just a 10 second preview, it shows a great deal. Plus we don’t have to wait much longer for a full trailer, as we are getting it tomorrow. Now if this preview doesn’t get you hooked on the new Dredd then maybe tomorrows trailer will, so please enjoy. What did you think of the preview? Well I think it is action packed greatness, because we get the only footage yet that hasn’t been a split second leak. Now in just 10 seconds you can’t really get much of a feel, but we do get a good showing of some of the action at play in this film. And from this preview it appears there’s a lot of action based around guns (and lots of them). We see car crashes, gatling guns, Butt loads of bullets, Dredd shooting his machine hand gun, a lot of slow motion shots and best yet Dredd Speaks his first words. Looking pretty sharp all suited up. Full SynopsisNow we also have the full Dredd Synopsis, which came out with this preview.

The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

Guess you think he is guilty then.

So finally whats your thoughts? Do you think it’s looking great? Can you not wait until tomorrow’s trailer? Or are you still not impressed? Please comment below.

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ – New Trailer #4

Did you think it possible to get more pumped up about The Dark Knight Rises, well Nolan just keeps bringing us closer and closer to a nervous break down due to the wait for this release. This latest trailer (mostly likely last) is going to make you wet yourself with excitement.

The best trailer yet? Well I think it is because we get rather a lot of new footage, which mainly seems aimed at showing more action. And from that trailer appears there is a lot of action (so excited). The music Is much faster, it’s 2 minutes of pure action, we see two bat tanks, bane speaks some more “Mr Wayne”, we see some full on street riots and ends with Cat Woman being cheeky.

Now is it just me or did that part creep you out, in a good way?

To me the best part and most significant point to this trailer was the interaction between Bane and Batman (55 seconds in). Just to explain what I mean. Bane has more physical power in this trailer than we have ever seen before; I have heard some complaints that he wouldn’t be powerful enough to be Bane from the comics. But I see that fear fading with this trailer.

We also have the latest Close up of the Bat Wing Below.

Have you got your ticket yet?

I know I have.

‘Elysium’ from the director of ‘District 9’: Plot & Images

Elysium in case you haven’t heard of it yet, is an upcoming science fiction film written and directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9). The film will star the following massive actors; Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Wagner Moura and Alice Braga. The film is currently scheduled to be released on March 1st or 8th, 2013.

Elysium is set on another planet in the far future. The film will combine socio-political ideas and action! We haven’t had something like this since Minority Report, so we hope it does very well.

If you think it’s a bit weird that you haven’t heard a thing about this big production Sci-Fi with lots of popular stars, you’re not alone as the director (Neill Blomkamp) has been keeping everything about this film very close to lip. Hopefully this film will release more information soon, so keep an eye out.

Plot

In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, built by the Armadyne Corporation, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes, a hard government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky ex-con Max is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

Source from Collider.

This film looks to be going down the same path as District 9 with Social upheaval, but this isn’t really shocking considering a lot of films (The Hunger Games, Dark Knight Rises) and TV shows (Continuum, Legend of Korra) recently have pointed to this genre, it is very relatable in our world (rich get richer, poor getting poorer).

Images

If that’s not enough to tide you over then we have some great still that raise some questions, such as what’s that tech on these guys?, Why is Matt Damon bald?, and finally why can I not get more pictures? Well that’s because it’s a super-secret production without any leaks or spoilers.

Is that a Katana on his back, I think it is!

So finally what are your thoughts? Did you like District 9? Do you think Neil Blomkamp can repeat his earlier success? Or, do you think it will just suck? All views are welcome.

RoboCop Remake – Hugh Laurie Set to Play Villain

Well first we got the news of a fairly new star becoming RoboCop (Joel Kinnaman), and from that the opinion was that this was going to be a bit of a new cast for this remake. But since then we have had big star after big star being announced for the main roles, first we got Gary Oldman as the scientist, then Samuel L. Jackson as the TV mogul and now it’s looking like we will have Hugh Laurie playing the ‘Dick Jones’-type villain role in this remake.

So for a recap on what we know about the film so far and who is playing what, then please check our previous articles, links below:

Hugh Laurie

Hugh Laurie to play the main villain in the new version of Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 sci-fi action classic, According to The Hollywood Reporter, Laurie will play “the evil and ultra-rich CEO of Omnicorp, the company that makes Robocop.

Well it’s about bloody time! With the finale of House it looks as though the many talented English star Hugh Laurie is finally going onto more serious film roles, and the roles don’t get more serious than the evil and ultra-rich CEO of Omnicorp (well not for nerds anyway).

Thanks to House we know that Hugh Laurie can be the bad guy, but the real question is can he be as evil as Ronny Cox’s character of the same role in the original film? Of course he can and we will be saving the date for release when we get one. 9 August 2013 is the current date, but we imagine this will change.

Now since there is no more news on the film we have the original trailer for RoboCop (1987) to tide you over until we have more news for you. They don’t make them like this anymore…

‘Robocop’ Remake: Sam Jackson Joins Cast and Peter Weller Speaks!

The new Robocop Remake, which is tentatively scheduled for summer 2013, has recently announced some casting news in addition to what we’ve already told you (here and here). Sadly we still have no teasers or trailers. So let’s recap what we know about the film and talk about who’s playing what…

Gary Oldman

Oldman will be playing a new character named Norton, “the scientist who creates RoboCop and finds himself torn between the ideals of the machine trying to rediscover its humanity and the callous needs of a corporation.

We’re looking forward to seeing Gary in a significant role within the Robocop universe, and he will bring, I am sure, some appreciated class to the production (fingers crossed). Gary Oldman cultivated a reputation as a formidable character actor with his most memorable performances in films such as Leon, Sid and Nancy, The Fifth Element, and Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

What do you mean I don’t look like a scientist that would befriend a mechanical cop?

Samuel L Jackson

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Jackson is set to play a ‘charismatic media mogul’ in the forthcoming remake. This is by far the newest development, and leads us to believe that this reboot may indeed be star-studded. His role was described “A charismatic TV mogul and a powerful force in the Robocop world.” Which was the exact quote, which does leave it a bit vague, but we should be learning more very soon.

And that’s the news muthaf***er!

Joel Kinnaman

As for who is playing our favorite Tin-Can Cop, look no further than Joel Kinnaman off of AMC’s The Killing. He actually isn’t a bad choice for the role and I think picking lesser known stars really work when introducing a remake of Sci-Fi classics. New Detroit sure does rain less than Seattle….

Jose Padilha  (He’s the director)

Jose Padilha had these words to say in an interview with comingsoon.net on his upcoming remake of Robocop:

“‘RoboCop’ the first movie was fantastic,” he told us. “But even if there was no movie, the concept of ‘RoboCop’ is brilliant, first because it lends itself to a lot of social criticism, but also because it poses a question, ‘When do you lose you humanity?’ The way it does that is by replacing body parts with machine parts, and that’s very smart because guess what? It’s going to happen!”

“I have my take on it,” he continued, “And I can tell you this: In the first ‘RoboCop’ when Alex Murphy is shot, gunned down, then you see some hospitals and stuff and then you cut to him as RoboCop. My movie is between those two cuts. How do you make RoboCop? How do you slowly bring a guy to be a robot? How do you actually take humanity out of someone and how do you program a brain, so to speak, and how does that affect an individual?”

But what we really want to know is will there be scenes like this:

Finally the best thing I found on the upcoming remake was an interview response from the original Robocop (Peter Weller) at the Hero Complex Film Festival.

“I couldn’t give a shit,” he said. “I say you know what, god bless them, man. Go make another ‘Robocop.’ I got to tell you this: when I sat there in Dallas three weeks ago to watch this thing, I don’t know. I mean, can they throw a lot of CGI at it and so forth? The morality that’s endemic to the movie that you just watched, it’s hard to replicate.”

I think he has given his blessing, but it kind of sounds like he was being angry drunk. Either way I have never met the man, maybe that’s the way he speaks about everything.
