TV Fall Schedules: One Big Fat Update
ABC, NBC and CBS’s fall schedules overall seem disappointing to me, some more than others (I’m looking at you, ABC!) There are a few that look promising. Nevertheless, here they are… the good, the bad, and the honky-tonk. (SupaScoot here. I’ll give you my thoughts along the way with the pictures cause I like to step all over other people’s articles. Sorry Michelle... I’m not sorry)
ABC
Last Resort:
This is a thriller that takes place in a submarine 500 feet beneath the ocean’s surface, and then an exotic island. This, I will not be watching. The ocean terrifies me.
[Doc - It's a Shawn Ryan show starring Andre Braugher and T-1000. I will be watching.]
Nashville:
This show looks absolutely terrible. Nashville is about a washed-up country singer who pairs up with a young country star. Not only does the plot sound terrible like a Lifetime movie… but it stars Hayden Panettiere. Pass.
How to Live with Your Parents for the Rest of Your Life:
I know that I sound cynical, but this show doesn’t look like a winner. I love Sarah Chalke, but I am already bored with the plot. A single mom moves in with her parents. It’s all been done. [Doc: Drink 7-Up]

Grizzly Girl of the Week: Charlize Theron
Charlize Theron
Charlize Theron is one very sexy South African native! She is extremely talented, and has worked very hard to make a name for herself. She is a classically trained dancer, a model, and an actress. Charlize has a combination of timeless beauty and great talent. She is this week’s Grizzly Girl.

Upcoming… Charlize Theron is working on some pretty awesome stuff right now. First and foremost, the prequel to Alien, Prometheus, will be hitting theaters June 8th. This is by far the most exciting of her upcoming work.
However Snow White and the Huntsman, Mad Max: Fury Road, Hancock 2, and Two Eyes Staring are all upcoming titles for her as well. I was not a big fan of the first Hancock movie. Maybe this one will be better… because, you know, sequels always are.
But Prometheus looks amazing! Here is a trailer:

Law and Order: SVU – Renewed Like a Boss!
Law and Order: SVU has been renewed for a fourteenth season, according to Deadline.com. The cop drama has been one of my personal favorite shows since I can remember. In fact, my only copy of “Good Housekeeping” has Mariska Hargitay on the cover. I love her… but I digress.
Dick Wolf [Ed. - Haha, Dick Wolf], executive producer/writer on Law and Order: SVU is also producing another NBC show airing this fall called Chicago Fire, which is a Firefighter drama. Also in the works, a reality series. Yawn.
The moral of the story is, sex sells… even if it isn’t consensual!
Look forward to seeing new episodes of SVU later this year. Well… look forward to seeing the same basic story-line, but maybe some different actors playing the abused children and pedophiles.
5 Spins Around the Record Shop – This Week in Music
Here are the top five pieces of important musical information I feel you need to know:
1. Jack White’s debut solo album:
Blunderbuss, is #1 on the Billboard Top 200 albums, and deservedly so. I have been a fan of Jack White since… well… since I can remember. In my opinion, although there are those who disagree, this is his best work. I think that Blunderbuss is exactly what Jack White has always wanted to do, and he is showing a large amount of confidence and an insane amount of talent.Everything Jack White touches seems to turn to gold. I am glad to see he is getting recognition for his work. I will be attending his concert on May 24th. I will definitely let you know how that goes.
2. Andre 3000 to Play Jimi Hendrix
According to Rolling Stone, Andre 3000 from Outkast will be starring as Jimi Hendrix in an upcoming biopic. All Is By My Side is currently in pre-production and is being filmed in Ireland. The film will be about Hendrix in 1966 & 1967. The film will be Written and directed by John Ridley.
3. NO DOUBT’s New Album
No Doubt, one of my personal favorite bands, has a new album dropping this fall! According to the Hollywood Reporter, September 25th is the magical day! This will be No Doubt’s first album since 2001. After Gwen Stefani’s God-awful solo career, I can only hope she will not have much creative input for this CD.
RIP MCA – Beastie Boy’s Adam Yauch: 1964-2012
Born in 1964, Adam Yauch (MCA) had reportedly been suffering from cancer for three years before he passed away yesterday, May 4th. Yauch was a founding member of the Beastie Boys back in 1981.
Paving the way for a whole new genre of music, the Beastie Boys began their career in 1981. Since then, they have had their fair share of impressive musical milestones. The most recent, last month, the Beastie Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Yauch was not there, leaving Mike D and Adrock to read the acceptance speech. The Beastie Boys have had four #1 albums. One of those four, Licensed To Ill, was the first hip hop album ever to top the Billboard 200. The 1986 hit album won three Grammys, and the MTV Video Vanguard Lifetime Achievement award.
Adam Yauch was an extremely talented person. Along with teaching himself to play the bass guitar, he directed famous music videos for the Beastie Boys such as “So Whatcha Want” and “Intergalactic“. He did this under an alias- Nathanial Hörnblowér.
“Fight for Your Right – Revisited” was directed by Yauch under his own name, which included several hilarious celebrity cameos.
The music world was a better place for having Adam Yauch. Although his life was cut far too short, he managed to make a giant impact on the world in his 47 years. Between his musical influence, his directing abilities, and his non-profit organizations and events, he made the world a better place.
Adam Yauch will be sorely missed.

MGM’s Official Offer to Julianne Moore for “Carrie” Remake
We already knew that Julianne Moore’s name was in the mix for potentially playing the role of Margaret White in the new “Carrie” remake. According to Deadline.com, Moore has been officially offered the role of the crazy mom with an absolutely insane personality.
Margaret White is the role of Carrie’s mother. She is very religious, but not the singing, laughing, church carnival type of religious, or even the bible-thumping door-to-door lunch interrupters… the out of her mind insane type.
The remake will be directed by Kimberly Peirce. If Moore takes this role, it could mean an Oscar nomination for her, as it did in 1976 for Piper Laurie who played Margaret White.
Ray Stevenson Cast in Dexter’s 7th Season
The show that lets us all stroke our dark side has a new cast member. Showtime’s serial killer drama Dexter is welcoming Ray Stevenson (Thor, G.I. Joe: Retaliation) to the show. According to LeftHandHorror Stevenson will play Issac, a Russian criminal who travels to Miami to figure out who killed one of the members of his organization. I don’t know if it is going to be another one of those situations like with Mos Def as Brother Sam. I got attached to his character, I was interested in the perspective he could give Dexter… at one point, I even thought that I would see Brother Sam kill with Dexter… but then he died. In fact, just about every interesting character on Dexter dies, other than obviously Dexter and his sister Deb.

“God Bless America”- My Favorite Movie Without Even Seeing It
God Bless America stars Mad Men actor Joel Murray (brother of hilarious Bill Murray) as Frank, a terminally ill man who is fed up with the awful American douche bags. His accomplice (because he can’t get rid of all the Kardashians and Jersy Shore cast members by himself) is a 16-year-old girl named Roxy.

The Walking Dead: Updates!
In an interview with Assignment X, writer/producer/creator of The Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman said that season 3 is “going to be awesome” - real shocker there. Showrunner Glen Mazzara tweeted that Lauren Cohan (Maggie Greene) has been upgraded to a regular character on the show! This by no means ensures her survival, but we’ll see how valuable she is to the group. Lord knows they need some chicks in the group who are worth a damn. And I bet Steven Yeun is happy…
New York Magazine recently asked the question which AMC drama’s kid has the worst parents? When evaluating Carl Grimes, they said this: “The minute there’s not enough attention paid to Carl, someone ends up dead.” We have said this in many different reviews of ours. We’ve begged the questions “Where the hell are his parents? Does Carl even have a room? Why won’t Carl stop stealing guns and taunting walkers?” I think that it is safe to say, Lori and Rick are not parents of the year. [Editor's Note - I gotta throw a vote for Betty Draper in there for worst mother...]
The Walking Dead’s Governor: David Morrissey
As he repeats throughout his interview with Newsbeat reporter Steve Holden, David Morrissey is “very excited!” about being The Walking Dead‘s new Governor.
Check out the clip:
David Morrissey was not one of the two actors we were lead to believe were the options for this prestigious role (The original battle for Governor article). I don’t know much about David Morrissey, which makes me both nervous and very intrigued. (I would refer to him by his last name, but one of my favorite musicians happens to share the last name.) I am seeing a lot of excitement on message boards, and I am looking forward to season 3. As is said in the video of the interview, The Walking Dead has such a large fan following (9 million viewers watched the Season 2 finale) that the new Governor better bring his A game. No one wants 9 million people pissed off at them.
Stephen King’s “Carrie” Remake Finds it’s Lead
And so we just keep rolling down Remake Road. This time the Brian De Palma masterpiece needs for some reason to be redone. Much like the new Total Recall, this seems to be another movie no one was asking for. Now, most likely what will decide if it’s watchable or not will be who they cast as the infamous Carrie White.
The remake of the 1976 film based on the Stephen King novel “Carrie” will be directed by Kim Peirce (Boys Don’t Cry). The casting was full of up-and-coming possibilities. The list of ladies who have read for the role of Carrie White are as follows: Haley Bennett (Marley & Me), Dakota Fanning (Man on Fire), Emily Browning (Sucker Punch), Bella Heathcote (In Time), Lily Collins (Mirror Mirror), and the winner of this coveted star role: Chloë Moretz.
Ms. Mortez is no stranger to the whole remake craze as she was in the updates of The Amityville Horror, The Eye, Let Me In, and the upcoming Dark Shadows. She is also building up quite the impressive geek-resume outside the remake game with movies like Kick-Ass, (500) Days of Summer, and a reoccurring role as Jack Donaghy’s nemesis Kaylie Hooper on 30 Rock.
The Walking Dead: Michonne’s Introduction!
I have yet to hear a single reader of the Walking Dead comics say “the show is so much better than the comics!” In fact, I presume it will never happen. Fans of the comics must be objective when watching the show, due to the dozens of important differences. During the season 2 finale, I could practically hear the sigh of relief sweeping over those watching when they saw the introduction of Michonne.
This is huge for the show! Michonne is arguably one of the comic’s best characters. Mutantstarr has given us the origin story of Michonne on their website. Check it out:
The Walking Dead: Season 2, Episode 13: Beside the Dying Fire – FINALE REVIEW
The finale of Season 2 began awesomely, by showing us where the massive horde of walkers originated from, all the way back in Atlanta. The helicopter from the first episode was flying overhead (don’t know who it was yet), and the walkers were mindlessly following it. As the horde heard Carl’s gunshot from, they followed that, and unfortunately for Herschel’s farm, there were hundreds of them at that point. Rick and Carl were heading back toward the farmhouse after the Shane incident when they noticed the horde of walkers following them. At this point Rick’s quick thinking took them towards the barn, where he proceeded to light it on fire – killing/distracting the walkers. The Grimes Boys escape with help from Jimmy, who pulls the RV up to the barn so they can jump onto the roof, and then stops the thing. Why did he stop the RV after Rick and Carl were on it? I presume suicide. My favorite part of the beginning, though, is that Lori suddenly realizes that Carl is not in his room. This is a running joke, now, because Lori always loses her son. I doubt if Carl even has the room that he is always supposed to be in.
After the fiery barn escape, the whole group teams up to fend off the giant number of zombies attacking them, and they fail. Patricia gets eaten right in front of everyone, as Beth had to be pulled away from her screaming. Who is Patricia, you ask? Otis’s wife… but I Googled that. Why did she get attacked? Because she was a very unimportant filler character, and every time she spoke, everyone fell asleep. Boom.
Hershel being the total bad-ass he is, tried taking on all of the walkers himself. Eastwood style.
The Walking Dead: Season 2, Episode 11- “Judge, Jury, Executioner”
First and foremost, I must say this: DO NOT READ THE FOLLOWING ARTICLE IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS EPISODE. You WILL hate yourself if I am the one to ruin it for you.
This episode began with a huge debate over whether Randall (Captain Leg Wound) would live or die. The argument is that Randall could possibly lead the group of 30+ strangers to Hershel’s farm if he is let go. If they kill him that threat is potentially squashed, Dale is arguing however, that if they execute a fellow human being for a crime he hasn’t even attempted to commit, they lose their humanity.
Throughout the episode, Dale attempts to convince everyone in the group to find another way to deal with Randall, one by one we see how these people have changed since the Zombie threat has arrived. All the while, Carl is becoming more and more desensitized because of the world around him. He is beginning to act out. He yelled at Carol (who cares?), but he also taunted a walker in the woods after stealing (and losing) Daryl’s gun! (more…)
The Walking Dead – Season 2, Episode 10: “18 Miles Out”
A Quick Recap: Shane got told what’s what by Rick on their way to drop off the hogtied stranger that Hershel fixed up. Shane… unlike his usual self… accepts Rick’s conditions. As they brought Randall 18 miles out from the barn, they discovered a mass of walkers where they intended to drop him off. This was right after Shane and Rick got into a long overdue fight. God help me, it was amazing!
Beth (remember? The blondie who went into a state of shock) is all better now except for one thing… she wants to kill herself. She snagged a knife from the plate of food she refused to eat, and Lori took it away. This lead to an argument between Lori and Andrea. Beth then told Maggie she wanted them to commit suicide together so that they could go peacefully. Beth made a very strong argument. I can’t honestly tell if Andrea is a psycho or a genius.
Woody Harrelson Stars in Real-Life Cop Drama: ‘Rampart’
Rampart is a movie about a real-life police scandal in 1999 in inner-city Los Angeles. Woody Harrelson plays Dave Brown, a member of the rampart division of the Los Angeles Police Department. The drama with Brown began to become public when he was caught on tape severely beating a citizen who had hit him with his car. The video hit the news, and the scandal began. Brown was also accused of many other controversies including murder. The movie also deals with Brown’s home life. He has two ex-wives, who are sisters. He has one child by each of them.
Director Oren Moverman and Harrelson went to the rampart department of the LAPD to shadow them. The two went on ride-alongs and got an inside look of the area that was being policed during the scandal, as well as the tension within the department.
Rampart will release in theaters tomorrow, although it is not being released locally, so I cannot see it yet.
