Graphic Novelist Gene Luen Yang Named National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature

The Library of Congress announced Monday that comics creator Gene Luen Yang has been named to the post of “National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature.” He is the first graphic novelist to obtain the position, which was established in 2008 by The Children’s Book Council, Every Child a Reader, and the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. It was created “to highlight the importance of young people’s literature as it relates to lifelong literacy, education, and the development and betterment of the lives of young people.” The appointment is for two years.

Marvel’s NetFlix Lineup: Daredevil S2 Return, Jessica Jones’ Future, & Luke Cage’s Change of Venue

Think villains are rough? Trying facing the real-world networks. That’s what Marvel characters Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage encountered as their series underwent the scrutiny of parent television company Netflix. (We dealt with Iron Fist’s issues like racial background in an earlier post.)

For weeks, Daredevil fans have been forced to wait impatiently to find out when season two was supposed to start. Waiting hit a frenzy with shots of the violent vigilante Punisher and the enigmatic and future squeeze / love interest Elektra hit the Internet.
