The first official trailer for Scare Package has been released. An indie horror anthology film titled from Paper Street Pictures, Scare Package is a horror-comedy anthology with seven different stories that bring together some of the brightest rising stars in horror filmmaking today.
Chad, the owner of Rad Chad’s Horror Emporium, recounts a series of bone-chilling, blood-splattering, and gleefully ghoulish tales in an effort to illustrate the rules of the horror genre to his newest employee. Each story takes aim at different tropes, paying homage to and subverting the timeless clichés of the beloved genre
Check out the trailer for Scare Package, which will debut later this summer:
The trailer only gives a tease of the “splatter-packed, deviously clever throwback pays homage to horror classics” but there’s enough there for horror fans to keep an eye on this one. Scare Package first premiered at the Sitges Film Festival last year before going on to play the Telluride Horror Show and FrightFest London. It won’t be getting a theatrical release but we can expect it to direct-to-VOD soon. This might not scare the pants off you, but it’s likely to inflame a sense of giddy glee from midnight audiences. So grab a couple of friends, couple pizzas, and a case of beer and have a late-night viewing of Scare Package later this summer.
Created by Aaron B. Koontz & Cameron Burns, the seven filmmakers, and their corresponding segments are as followed: Emily Hagins (My Sucky Teen Romance, Grow Up Tony Phillips, Coin Heist), Chris McInroy (Hellarious), Hillary & Courtney Andujar (shorts I Could’ve Been Sweet, L7: Burn Baby), actor Noah Segan, actor Baron Vaughn, Anthony Cousins (shorts The Bloody Ballad of Squirt Reynolds, Peek a Boo) & Aaron B. Koontz himself directing Camera Obscura.
You can also check out the poster for the film, which takes the video store horror movie throwback motif and runs with it.
The meta horror-comedy anthology film Scare Package will release Summer 2020.
