Ed Helms as Rusty Griswold Rebooting ‘Vacation’?

As we approach the 2012 Comic-Con, we must remember that there is other news out there that impacts the world that might not be reported. However, since I do not have the interest nor intelligence to write anything political or serious in nature, we will settle for some movie casting news. Perhaps the return of National Lampoon’s Vacation?

The Hollywood Reporter is…uhh…reporting, that Ed Helms is in negotiations to star in the reboot (Hollywood loves originality) for the Vacation series but with an added twist: he would not be Clark Griswold but he would take over as Rusty Griswold as he brings his family in the mix of shenanigans and mishaps and, let’s face it, awesomeness that comes from these movies.

The writers involved are none other than hot duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein of Horrible Bosses fame (although Daley will always be Sam Weir from Freaks and Geeks) but no director as of yet but I am sure if Helms does sign up, that will be no issue at all. Obviously the idea may not be totally original but I dig the idea of Rusty taking over and Helms can definitely hold attention on the big screen as long as he has good support around him to play off of (see: The Office or The Hangover). As long as Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo shows up then sign me up. Although 10 bucks says that Kate Upton is involved as random fantasized object of affection if they play by the same formula. I’m calling it right now.

I had to find a picture of her with a Tigers hat, don’t worry I’ll make it up at the end

On a sidenote, Ed Helms is apparently working on the Office, shooting a movie with Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd right now, filming the Hangover III in September, and supposed to do this movie in the spring? Anyone want to venture a guess that maybe he won’t be full time on the Office at this rate? Something to chew on because Lions Gate is on the Rudd/Poehler movie, Warner Bros (New Line specifically) is behind the Hangover and the Vacation series but we know that NBC show is produced by Universal who typically will not loan out stars in the middle of the television shooting season. I know the article says that they will shoot the movie after the Office wraps its latest season but I wanted to throw it out there. Stir the pot if you will.

Now, for the rest of you pervs, here’s your obligatory Kate Upton awesome pic. And no, she will not ruin Justin Verlander. That’s just stupid.

The Amazing Spider Man – 2 AM Text Review

My buddy Aaron is a bartender for a certain movie theater here in Michigan, and on occasion, the theater will have advanced employee screenings for movies a couple nights prior to the film’s release. These are his thoughts on The Amazing Spider Man

Aaron: Watching spiderman was like watching the drunkest guy at the bar hit on the hottest waitress at the bar at the end of the night. – 3:08 AM

Aaron: It’s actually pretty entertaining, there’s a lot of misguided effort, but some how, you find yourself rooting for the guy because he’s trying so  – 3:10 AM

Aaron: hard. – 3:10 AM

Aaron: And more than likely, he’ll try again next week. So, yeah, Im definitely lookin forward to the sequal.  – 3:12 AM

True Blood 5.04 – “We’ll Meet Again”

Well, folks, our worst fears have been realized.  The faeries are back.  Not only are they back, but they’ve opened a Moulin Rouge where vampires can never go.  Jason and Andy get sucked into an evening with stripper faeries; and before they get thrown out for pissing everyone off, Jason learns from his cousin that his parents may not have died in a flood, but because of vampires after their faerie blood.  Those poor Stackhouses can’t catch a break.

Ted – 2 AM Text Review

My buddy Aaron is a bartender for a certain movie theater here in Michigan, and on occasion, the theater will have advanced employee screenings for movies the Wednesday night prior to the film’s release. These are his thoughts on TED…

Aaron: WAKEUP SNOWFLAKE!! Just finished watching Ted. – 2:02 AM

Aaron: Between the last 2 seasons of family guy and the entire existence of the Cleveland show, I was pretty sure ol’ Seth had blown his load on funny things to – 2:03 AM

Aaron: say. – 2:04 AM

Aaron: Turns out, he blew his load on FCC approved things to say. Genuinely funny. Some pretty good moments. But a movie about a teddy bear for 2 – 2:05 AM

Aaron: hours?!?! – 2:06 AM

Aaron: Much like me ordering a jack and coke, it’s predictable, but nice to see all Seth needed to be funny again was less restrictions. Let’s say 7 out of 10.  – 2:09 AM

Aaron: Oh, and of course, your much needed boob count: 2. Nice ones too, which means they didn’t belong to Meg.  – 2:10 AM

True Blood: 5.03 – “Whatever I Am, You Made Me” Review

This week on True Blood, I learned that it doesn’t matter what type of creature Tara becomes – human, lesbian, maenad puppet, vampire –  I only want her gone.  Killed.  Staked.  Written out of the show.  Erased from our memories.  Chop her scenes from the show and have a bonfire with the pieces.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter – 2 AM Text Review

My buddy Aaron is a bartender for a certain movie theater here in Michigan, and on occasion, the theater will have advanced screenings for movies the Wednesday night prior to the film’s release. Well early this morning I got a few texts from my good friend about his thoughts on President Lincoln’s Vampire Slaying skills.

Aaron Stallings: Kronner, I’m texting you at 2am with no regard if you’re sleep or not to tell you that I want to have sex with this movie. It was f***ing sweet! Reminds me of zombieland.  – 1:58 AM

Aaron Stallings: Fast pace, kinda crazy, great effects, creepy characters, smooth villains… oh, and Abe Lincoln freeing my people. – 2:01 AM

Aaron Stallings: Oh, and 1 boob, but there’s was a little blood on it soooo… If that’s you’re kinda thing…  – 2:02 AM

He also informed me that he viewed the film with projection team, who are, as he put it, “Movie buffs. Like you”, and that they too seemed to share his excitement for the feature.

I don’t know about you, but based on that review…I’m in.
