So remember when I professed my Lego love when talking about the Lego Movie trailer? Well, brace yourselves, it’s about to happen again. That’s because box art for the Lego Marvel Super Heroes video game has been released!!!! Yay!!!!
After playing every Batman game, both Harry Potters, and of course all the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and most recently Lord of the Rings… I’m ready for Lego Marvel Super Heroes!
Looks like we’ve got who you’d expect to see: Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Hulk, Thing, Thor, Black Widow, Silver Surfer, Mr. Fantastic. The crazy part is that is a lot of characters right there on the box and those Lego games usually have over 100 characters that you can collect as you play so it’ll be interesting to see who all ends up in the game.
Of course it’s exciting to see the box art (love the mold holes in Wolverine’s claws), but really the best part of the game is the game itself. Thankfully there’s been some good gameplay trailers released and quite a bit that came out of E3 this year.
Looks pretty good right? Yeah, it does. Even though I’m a DC girl all the way, I can not wait for Lego Marvel Super Heroes. When I’ll have to wait until has yet to be seen as Tt Games is sticking with a release date of “Fall 2013”.
With July in full swing and The Last of Us behind us, Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA V) is arguably the most anticipated game for the remainder of this console generation. Developer Rockstar Games has been parcelling out information about the game in little chunks here and there, but today they released a whopping 5-minute gameplay trailer. This is the first time the new world of Los Santos has been expansively detailed and described for the player without pre-rendered cutscenes, and it looks gorgeous. Take a look:
Rather than leave the focal points and important features of GTA V up to the player to find and dissect as Rockstar is wont to do, this trailer is concisely narrated to make sure you’re noticing exactly how huge this game is going to be. No bombastic Stevie Wonder lead-ins or goofy asides here, they have five minutes to show you the largest world map the team has ever created. Eyes front and center kiddies, there’s a lot of content to introduce.
Just a few of the activities you’ll be able to enjoy include scuba diving, skydiving, shopping, yoga, golf, stock trading, hunting, bounty hunting, tennis and bike racing, but those are relatively simple distractions to enjoy amidst all the crime-sprees, missions and major heists that comprise the bulk of Grand Theft Auto V’s campaign. GTA V will also allow for a huge amount of customization for each of your players: cars, clothes, tattoos, guns and maybe more can be tailored to your personal liking.
The trailer finally shows us exactly how switching between the three main characters will work, and at least within the trailer, it looks extremely fluid and seamless. I wonder if it will play as organically when I’m shooting out the passenger window of my Escalade and realize my other me is about to drive headlong into a building, but there’s no way to know just how well it works until the game’s released.
Jumping from character to character looks fun and flashy outside of missions too, but again, I’m curious to see how it works with real player spontaneity. Each of the examples in the trailer shows characters midway through some interesting activity (Michael ending a bike ride with his son and Trevor in a chaotic car chase with the cops); will I always catch my partners in some kind of crazy situation or will I find Trevor asleep on the couch from time to time? Also I’m curious to know if that switch to satellite view, which admittedly looks cool in the video, will become tedious after 10-15 hours of playing the game.
Finally, the trailer boasts that all the mechanics, from shooting to driving, have been fine-tuned to be more responsive. I’m all for that. Despite all of GTA‘s untouchable achievements, for a game all about crime and underworld shenanigans, combat has always been a messy affair. The gunplay shown in this trailer looks far more immediate than GTA IV, though again, there’s no way to know without playing the game ourselves.
Only Rockstar can set the internet ablaze with a video (Okay, maybe Deep Silver did it once), and they seem to outdo themselves with every one they release. This reintroduction to Los Santos just makes the wait for September 17th that much more unbearable.
What do you think of the released gameplay footage? Has it amped up your excitement or cooled you off a bit? Sound off in the comments section below!
So it’s that time again, we have a new Call of Duty DLC coming out just in time to make sure you avoid the beach and stay pale playing indoors for the next few months. There’s actually some cool goodies in this pack which has the standard four new multiplayer maps as well as a new zombie map We also get to see a new weapon in the zombie map, which is cool because it’s an updated version of my favorite gun to take down the undead. But first, let’s let you watch the official trailer below, introduced by our favorite pitchmen: The Replacers.
It’s actually a heckuva lot shorter video than what we’re used to and provides very minimal use of the awesome Peter Stormare. Sucks because the previous Replacers trailers were awesome but no matter as we’re really interested about the gameplay itself. With Call of Duty: Vengeance, we have four new maps starting out with Cove, which for some odd reason reminds me of the Koopa Beach map on Mario Kart. Cove seems like a cool map as you’re surrounded by water on an island of rock and rainforest plus a downed plane. Just think of it like the cast of Lost got stranded with guns. With less confusion and smoke monsters too. It looks to be a sweet map though that breeds chaos and yelling at the television; my favorite combination in a Call of Duty map. Next up, we have Detour – a multilevel bridge map that keeps the action head to head and in front of the players. It looks to be a cool map that will have the short range players underneath and the long range players battling up top. Plus lots of exploding cars so more people will be angry when a stray grenade takes out the car and takes them out in the process as well.
Next map we have is Rush, which is probably going to become my favorite new map. It’s basically a paintball obstacle course. Indoor, outdoor, close quarters running around, it’s got the makings of a brilliant map. Should be almost as fast paced as Nuketown in my opinion with barely any cover and the need to press forward at all times. The last multiplayer map is Uplink, but everyone actually will recognize this map as Summit from the original Call of Duty: Black Ops game. This one will probably be a favorite of Kronner’s as Summit was his boy. The major difference is no snow and it’s during the nighttime but for the most part, it’s a nice call back for a classic map.
Of course, we have the zombie map called Buried and it’s basically an Old West town that’s underground. With zombies. Of course, there’s one major wildcard and it seems to be a giant, somewhat hick-ish type NPC that you can either confront and try to kill (if it’s like Romero in Call of the Dead, good luck) or use to your advantage to clear the path. Either way it looks to be exciting and even more so because I get a new ray guy out of it too. The ray gun has always been my boy and now they have upgraded it with the Ray Gun Mark II. Apparently it’s a lot more powerful and laser-like as it can cut through a whole row of zombies. So yeah, that definitely sounds like my boy right there.
Of course, this all comes out on July 2nd on Xbox Live first so Xbox 360 gamers will get the first experiences with this DLC. From the looks of things, it won’t disappoint at all. Below is a more in depth trailer about the maps so watch it, love it, and I’ll see you guys online. I’ll be the guy swearing and being berated by 12 year olds with no sense of morality or political correctness.
I have been a big fan of Harmonix for just over a decade now. In my mind, they are geniuses in terms of innovative gaming and the incorporation of music into the gameplay experience. The developers of FreQuency, Guitar Hero, Karaoke Revolution (which I covered for a previous web site for four years) and Rock Band were always ahead of the game with the music game experience and pioneers of the industry. With Dance Central the most recent endeavor by the team, they also managed to incorporate motion and make it a fun experience for all. Naturally, it was time for a new IP to be introduced once the new next-gen systems were announced, and Harmonix has teamed up with Disney to introduce Fantasia: Music Evolved. The announcement trailer is below and while cool, is mostly a tease instead of a comprehensive trailer with gameplay details.
Confused? Most other people were too, but it was intriguing nonetheless. One of the major details you will notice is that it is for the Kinect for both the Xbox 360 and the new Xbox One, so apologies to Sony fans out there. Regardless, I imagine the game will take advantage of the technological advancements that the new Kinect for the Xbox One brings to the table. Basically, the story goes as this: this is basically a continuation of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice part of the film with Mickey and that magical hat. This time, we take over as the apprentice and are able to create, just like Mickey did, our own orchestral arrangements and bring the scene to life. While we probably won’t see any Disney characters in this game, the amount of creativity being touted for this game is unparalleled. Most music games follow an extremely linear path where we hit the notes at the same time with no real way to branch out and improvise. This game basically flips that notion and leaves it to the gamer to create music and possibilities through the waving of hands, body and gestures.
The clip below, courtesy of Gamespot, shows some gameplay elements such as The Shoal, a place to interact with the environment to collect magic energy for your master. Of course, it also shows off Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. This is where the fun begins and I’ll let you watch it below;
That gameplay pretty much did it for me; I’m sold. The way the gamer was able to bounce back and forth between melodies and be able to determine how she wants the music to play out and the different styles. Fantasia: Music Evolved will boast a modern soundtrack with artists like Bruno Mars and Fun. providing some of the music but luckily, the game will also include music from the original Fantasia movie as well so we can play out our childhood and conduct our way through nostalgia and classical music. This game promises to be a revolutionary step in music gaming and I definitely will be looking forward to more information coming out as we still have a bit of a way before it’s release date in 2014. Regardless, Harmonix has yet again delivered a cool, new innovative experience that I can’t wait to partake in.
I don’t know why I continue to play Assassin’s Creed games. I really don’t. They are basically the same game with just different people and settings each time and yet for some reason when a new one is announced I get all a’tingle with excitement. This newest incarnation, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, is no different. During their E3 press conference, Ubisoft gave us a good look at the new game, which has moved on to the islands.
There are few things I love more than tall ships and the open sea. Add in pirates and the trademark “prettiness” that makes a player want to go find all those viewpoints in game, there’s no doubt I won’t be heading to my local game retailer in October to pick this one up.
Also released was a “Horizon Trailer” and it does a whole lot more to show the pretty.
But what if the scenery and cinematics aren’t what drive you to buy a game? Well don’t fear, Ubisoft will happily convince you to impart with your money as well as they released a gameplay trailer at the same time.
Are you one of those people that just needs more, more, more? Then you’ve come to the right place because there is more and more when it comes to videos for this game.
I told you there was a lot. Frankly maybe we don’t need to buy the game anymore, just sit and watch all these trailers and such and pretend we are playing. Oh who am I kidding? That $60 is already burning a hole in my pocket. I would go out and preorder it right now if only I could find a place to preorder it from. Oh wait!
Unfortunately, right now the only thing that shows up when you click any of the retailers is Gamestop’s “Black Island Pack” which includes the Deadly Black Ship, legendary silver flintlock pistols used by Captain Morgan, and then Captain Morgan’s costume, picture, and title. As intriguing as that is, I’d like to see the other bonuses before I make a decision. I’m particularly interested in Target’s “Trove of Mystery Pack”. Hopefully Ubisoft will fix that glitch here soon because…
Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag will be released on October 29th, 2013. Happy pillaging!
We have yet another Arkham Origins trailer, except this time we get to see some actual gameplay. I’m of the mind that if ain’t broke, don’t fix it, and in the case of Arkham Origins the combat and other gameplay look to be about the same with only a few changes. As mentioned before Batman will be utilizing the Bat computer on the go to holographically reconstruct crime scenes. It looks pretty nifty, can’t wait to give it a go. But enough out of me check out the trailer:
I loved the trailer and the look of Arkham Origins so far. It’s so far confirmed that Bane, Deadshot and Deathstroke are in the game as assassins but no others have been confirmed. They definitely showcased the Joker in the trailer and he looked awesome as usual. He only had one line and a laugh in the trailer, but I thought it was decent. Obviously Mark Hamil is a hard act to follow for any voice actor involving the Joker but I have high hopes for Troy Baker, who voiced both Two-Face and Robin in the last game. Likewise, Batman’s new voice (Roger Craig Smith) didn’t sound too bad either.
Baker and Smith have worked together before this as well. They voice Hawkeye and Captain America for the Avengers Assemble cartoon…
Only time will tell however as we wait until October 18th when the game is released. Unfortunately it’s not till October 25th for everyone outside of the United States.
So what’s everyone think finally seeing the gameplay action from the game? Any thoughts on the looks of Bane and the Joker or the new voices for the clown prince and Batman? Sound off below bat-fans!
