Ever since Street Fighter X Tekken was announced last year, fans have been chomping at the bit for it. 2 out of 3 of the biggest fighting games out there, Mortal Kombat being the third, combining to bring us some seriously kick-ass action. I’m excited, Japan is excited, and you should be too. But as always, you don’t need to take my word for it. I bring evidence to the table.
First take a look at the cinematic trailer, which is pretty epic:
Looks pretty good, but cinematics can be misleading. So let’s check out some gameplay footage:
Looks fairly similar to Street Fighter IV, with some additions, like the Tag ability, seen in Tekken Tag Tournament and Marvel vs. Capcom. This footage was shown at Comic-Con and features Ryu, Chun-Li (Street Fighter), Kazuya and Nina (Tekken). Here’s a look at some of the other characters featured:
Here’s a list of all the characters currently announced, as well as some of the gameplay features from EuroGamer:
Sagat joins fellow Street Fighters Ryu, Chun-Li, Ken, Guile, Abel and Cammy on the playable roster.
Confirmed Tekken characters include Kazuya Mishima, Nina Williams, Bob, King and Craig Marduk.
SFxT features a real-time tag battle system that allows players to fight as a team of two and switch between characters by simultaneously pressing medium punch and medium kick.
The game system is based on the 2.5D Street Fighter IV, with eight way movement and 3D characters battling on a 2D plane.
Tekken characters have been reworked so they play on the 2D plane with six buttons, although they can still be played with the traditional Tekken four button system.
Capcom is expected to reveal more characters at the E3 trade show.
I can’t wait to get my button mash ready and take on some friends for many anger filled hours. We’ll definitely hear more information at E3 in June.
And if that isn’t enough Street Fighter action you can check out the upcoming Street Fighter: The New Challengers, a feature-length animated movie. Here’s all the info you need for that:

I’m not even going to ask if your excited for this crossover game, because if you were anything like me you were raised playing Street Fighter II Turbo. So what I will ask in the spirit of this epic crossover, choose the winner in a vs. match of my choosing.
Street Fighter (1994) vs. Tekken (2010)
I give this one to Tekken, what do you think? And yes, I’ll ask anyway, are you looking forward to this game?
