This is possibly the best news I’ve heard all week. Christina Applegate, who so famously portrayed ‘Veronica Corningstone’ in the first Anchorman film, has now been confirmed for the film’s sequel, which is still in its writing stages. The Up All Night star was confirmed to appear in the 2nd film by co-star David Koechner who’s been heavily pushing the film since the release of the teaser trailer.
In the first film, Ron Burgundy had plans to marry Veronica Corningstone on top of a mountain. There would be flutes and trombones. They’d dance until the sun rose and have children who’d form a band and tour the countryside. None of you were invited. Will this be the fate for Burgundy and Corningstone in Anchorman 2? Oh god, I hope so. I’d love to see a bunch of little Burgundies running around all over the place.
Supposedly the film will revolve around the introduction of cable TV, which is a fate worse than death to any big news station. I’m interested to see if Ron’s relationship with Veronica will be affected by that addition to television. If not, what is her role in the sequel? Hopefully these questions and more will be answered within the coming months when the screenplay is finalized.
