It’s always a good day when Arrested Development updates are abound on the internet and today’s tidbit is a great one. According to Rolling Stone, via Warming Glow, it looks like Arrested Development will get a movie. THEN a season 5 series order. Yep, that’s right, I just blue myself.
According to creator Mitchell Hurwitz, he’s been doing some preliminary work on the movie reuniting the Bluths yet again.
”I’m working on the movie right now. I can’t get into much more detail because I don’t want to scare anybody off. I don’t want to be presumptuous about it. I don’t own the property outright – it’s a 20th Century Fox property. But everybody seems really into it and really eager to make a movie.”
So in his mind, the movie is the next logical step because it keeps everyone on their toes on how the Arrested Development story will be told and the different ways it could be presented. Obviously season 4 was a different animal than what we were used to seeing compared to almost a decade ago when the series first aired on Fox. With the Rashomon-like storylines that ran parallel with each other as we followed various members of the family each episode, it was a polarizing storytelling technique amongst the fans. Regardless, I guess a movie will definitely add a different element to the whole experience. But of course, Hurwitz wasn’t done yet. He’s not stopping at just the movie, but he wants ANOTHER season after that. Oh joy.
I feel I don’t really need to go any further on how awesome this much Arrested Development would mean for me. I’ll just leave everyone with the GIFs above and below and watch some more season 4 at home. Thank you and good night.
