The Mystery Science Theater 3000 Turkey Day Marathon Returns

While most Americans are getting ready for the impending Thanksgiving feast, Mystery Science Theater 3000 fans have a little something extra to look forward to: Turkey Day! Yes, the MST3K Turkey Day Marathon is back and six classic MST3K episodes will be streamed live on the official MST3K YouTube channel beginning at 9 AM PST/12 PM EST on Thanksgiving Day.

Joel Hodgson will once again be hosting and has promised all-new host segments. The episode list has been kept a secret and Joel has sneakily hinted at a few other surprises popping up throughout the marathon. Will we see TV’s Frank show up for the Turkey Day festivities? Will our favorite bots sing us a song to get us in the holiday spirit? After all, it just isn’t the holidays without a little Patrick Swayze.

MST3k Turkey Day PosterLast year’s Turkey Day revival brought in over 100,000 viewers, proving that MST3K’s fan base hasn’t gone anywhere since the show went off the air in 1999. This year, fans watching the marathon can mingle with each other by commenting directly on the YouTube live stream and using the hashtag #MST3K on Twitter or Facebook.

If the Turkey Day Marathon live stream just isn’t enough MST3K for you, Shout! Factory has released a new collector’s edition: MST3K Volume XXXI, The Turkey Day Collection. Packaged in a collectible Turkey Day tin, the latest offering includes four episodes (Jungle Goddess, The Painted Hills, The Screaming Skull, and Squirm), a look at Turkey Day through the years, and special Turkey Day intros by Joel Hodgson. With all of the Turkey Day-related bonus features, this collector’s edition will easily become a Thanksgiving tradition. Watching the Satellite of Love crew riff on a Lassie movie will become just as important as the green bean casserole. Ok, maybe more important.

Nothing goes better with pumpkin pie than a heaping serving of MST3K. Happy Turkey Day!
