Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Looks to Score Spin-Off Show & How Daredevil Fits Into Their Universe

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. might be expanding their reach into another spin-off show while Marvel admits to having a common character with their ABC show and Netflix’s Daredevil. Could we see a crossover soon?

Marvel has not been shy in trying to make sure their properties are in the spotlight at all times. Obviously we have Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron coming out in less than a month (May 1st in North America in case you’ve just woken up from a coma) to be followed by Ant-Man soon after. On television, we have Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter establishing their presence on ABC, desperately trying to grab an audience. On April 10th, Marvel will be launching Daredevil on Netflix, just the beginning of a slew of series starring some lesser known characters that they want to introduce before their Defenders end game takes place. So of course, we shouldn’t be shocked upon hearing the news that Marvel is developing a spin-off series from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. according to

Apparently Marvel is quietly making plans for the extra series with S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producer Jeffrey Bell and writer Paul Zbyszewski heading up the development. It’s not known who might be moving on to that series or if they plan on breaking up the team at all so we can only speculate at this point. It wouldn’t shock me if they tried to use this as a vehicle for either Adrianne Palicki (after all, she was almost Wonder Woman…) or maybe The Inhumans precursor to the Marvel Cinematic Universe introduction (out in 2019) so we’ll see how it goes.

Again, they might not even pick up this pilot they are developing, and it doesn’t seem to be an episode of the current S.H.I.E.L.D. season that starts it off (see: Arrow introducing The Flash) so we’ll have to keep our ear to the ground on this one. Apparently this last portion of the season will be launching events that would feed into the new show so we can at least have a better idea as we delve further into the rabbit hole.

Speaking of jumping in head first, I know many of you are planning on binge watching Daredevil when it launches April 10th on Netflix so I’ll leave this tidbit for you: the Absorbing Man from the beginning of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is in Daredevil. Sort of. Marvel TV exec Jeph Loeb pretty much set it in stone in saying that Carl “Crusher” Creel, who wreaked havoc in the first episode of this season on S.H.I.E.L.D., was the same guy that Matt Murdock’s boxer dad, Jack Murdock fought in some promotional stills released by Netflix.

Of course, the timeline is the major difference, with S.H.I.E.L.D. getting the older version versus this younger boxer. But they are one in the same. Could we see some more of him in Daredevil? Time will tell…
