Stranger Things Season 3 Trailer: One Summer Will Change Everything

It’s 1985 and everything is about the change. Today, Netflix released the first full trailer for the third season of their massive hit series, Stranger Things. The new trailer has a lot of hints at what awaits the residence of Hawkins, Indiana as well as a nicely timed Independence Day release date.

Netflix has been teasing viewers with footage of rats in a curious teaser released earlier this week. Never showing what the rodents were scurrying away from, or towards, it nevertheless started off a bevy of speculation as to when we might expect a full trailer.

So without further ado, here’s the full trailer for Stranger Things Season 3:

We know it’s set in 1985 and the town is dealing with a morally corrupt mayor (played by 80s staple Cary Elwes) who is pushing for construction of the Starcourt Mall in a prominent new location. The town’s politics, however, is probably not the biggest thing the kids have to worry about this season. It’s the 4th of July, the summer is in full swing, and things are looking explosive.

Also, in addition to just the visual splendor shown in the first trailer, what is the music budget on this show now? Motley Crue, The Who! These are some big, expensive songs, but at this point, Netflix is probably cutting whatever size check the Duffer brothers need for their incredibly popular nostalgia-fueled series.

Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Dacre Montgomery, and Cara Buono reprise their roles in Stranger Things 3, with new additions Maya Hawke, Jake Busey, Francesca Reale, and the aforementioned Cary Elwes, joining as well.

Netflix also released the official poster for Stranger Things Season 3 on New Year’s day:
