Fans of Sasquatch horror should check out Abominable when it hits VOD later this April. Uncork’d Entertainment has debuted an official trailer for another new violent horror film titled Abominable. This new horror film isn’t to be confused with the Ryan Schifrin directed Abominable, itself a gory Bigfoot horror movie from 2006 or the Dreamworks animated film from 2019.
This Abominable comes from director Jamaal Burden and follows a research team that embarks on a journey to obtain a plant that can advance medical research by centuries. While stumbling upon clues of a previous expedition, they discover that a Yeti creature lurks within the Himalayan mountains and will do anything to protect its terrain.
Check out the trailer for Abominable below:
The film stars Robert Berlin, Katrina Mattson, Amy Gordon, Brandon Grimes, and John Carlssun. Judging by the trailer this looks, Uhm…Bad. But, in a good way. One of those Friday night, beer and pizza kinda cheese fests. It is, after all, pretty low-fi it’s utilizing a man-in-suit monster and super gory practical FX to liven things up.
Abominable’s director, the relatively unknown filmmaker Jamaal Burden, is debuting his second feature film after directing Elves (from 2018) previously. The screenplay is written by Joseph Ellis. Unfortunately, due to the state of the world, the film hasn’t had a chance to premiere at any festivals (local or otherwise) and will, instead, grace VOD directly. Making you, the viewer, the red carpet premiere in April.
Bloody Disgusting reported on a clip from the film recently. Uncork’d sent them a little something that showed off the low-budget practical effects that the film is utilizing. This involves some good old fashioned man-in-a-suit monster performing a particularly gory kill. It’s old school effects, nitty and gritty, done right and it looks like a satisfying meal for those jonesing for a little gore.

The creature feature Abominable will be available on DVD and Digital April 14.
