The Jack Kirby Settlement…

On July 28 2011, in a New York court, Judge Coleen McMahon ruled a verdict on the copyright case of The Kirby Family, the plaintiffs and children of legendary comic book artist Jack Kirby, and Marvel/Disney, the defendant and legendary entertainment company. The Kirby family claimed that their father was integral in creating a majority of Marvel’s marquee characters-The Fantastic Four, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos, The X-Men and um, Spider-Man (I’m not joking). Moreover, since he was the primary creator of these characters, Kirby’s estate is entitled to the copyrights to these creations. After reviewing the case, as well as several testimonies from Marvel comics legends such as Stan Lee, his brother Larry Lieber (Stan Lee changed his name), John Romita Sr, Jim Steranko and others, as well as testimonies from close associates of the late Jack Kirby, such as writer Mark Evanier and Kirby collector John Morrow, McMahon ruled in favor of Marvel/Disney.

Even More Governator – Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger

After my first article about the announcement of Arnold’s new animated show the Governator, there’s even more news, including a trailer featuring the animation, Arnold’s voice work and an action scene! The trailer is a full 3 minutes of ANIMATED ARNOLD! Try not to get too excited, because after watching the trailer below you may regret it:

I have to say, I’m a huge fan of the animation style. It reminds me of the Boondocks on Cartoon Network, but the subject matter itself leaves a lot to be desired. I can’t tell if it’s supposed to be a parody or serious. I’d prefer it if the show did indeed make fun of itself, and robot bank robbers (Seriously?) are definitely a clear indication of that.

The other bit of news comes to us via Mania, where it has been reported that not only will there be 52 episodes initially of The Governator and a comic book, but there will also be a movie coming to theaters by 2013.

Will this be Arnold’s first return to the big screen? Or will we see True Lies 2 or a sequel to Kindergarten Cop first? Sound off in the comment section below to let us know what you think of the Governator concept, or what Arnold’s first new movie should be!

Oh my…

Arnold Schwarzenegger is “The Governator”

I thought it was the worst thing ever when Arnold Schwarzenegger was voted in as the Governor of California, and not because I live there, but because there goes his acting career for a minimum of four years. So much for any hopes of him playing a Terminator again, or facing off against another Predator. The king of one liners was officially lost to us for an indefinite amount of time. Even after he was done being the Governor, his best years were behind him as evidenced in the infamous beach picture, or as I like to call it “Flab-gate.”

Now he is officially un-governorized and can come back to movies right?

Wrong. Arnold’s first return to the entertainment world, according to Screen Rant, is a project called… The Governator. I’m definitely a little disappointed that this will be his next stop, even if it is a collaboration between him and comic book god Stan Lee. I mean let’s face it, Stan the Man also had a big hand in the Pam Anderson fecal-fest known as Stripperella. Screen Rant also listed some of the “awesome” details of the show listed below:

  • An Arnold Cave, which Lee describes as “a secret high-tech crime-fighting center under his house in Brentwood.”
  • A collection of “Super Suits” that allow him to fly and perform stunts
  • A 13-year-old computer whiz sidekick named Zeke Muckerberg (get it?)
  • An evil organization titled: Gangsters Imposters Racketeers Liars & Irredeemable Ex-cons – or G.I.R.L.I.E. Men

Hopefully the show will give us some ridiculous stuff to laugh at. Maybe they can do something like they did with the commercial below, because that made me laugh and nearly pee my pants:
