5 Spins Around the Record Shop – This Week in Music

Here are the top five pieces of important musical information I feel you need to know:

1. Madonna is Kind of a Bitch

At a recent show at Paris’ legendary l’Olympia club, Madonna was… well… herself. Not only has she been exposing herself on stage, and revealing guns, but left the show 45 minutes in. I have never in the hundred plus concerts I’ve been to, stayed less than 2 hours. What the hell? Like it’s enough that she graced everyone with her presence, only reinforcing the rumors that she is one crazy bitch.

2. Toby Keith Will Not Be On American Idol

According to MTV.com, Toby Keith was approached in early July about being a judge on the parasitic television show that is American Idol. The singer turned the gig down due to his busy schedule. This man literally sings a song about a red Solo brand cup. Not as an advertisement… but as a gimmicky tailgating song. American Idol, as awful as it is, is not beneath him. He should probably take the high-paying gig and bank the cash!

3. No Doubt is Rocking Once Again!

No Doubt rocked the stage on Good Morning America on Friday, July 27. No Doubt has been one of my favorite bands since I can remember. I never thought that I could get over the trauma of the Gwen Stefani Bananas incident in her career… but seeing the band together again makes me a very happy girl! The album Push and Shove will be releasing September 25, 2012!

4. Lady Gaga’s Film Debut

The eccentric pop icon will be making her film debut in the second installment of the Machete film franchise (as we pointed out), Machete Kills. There is not much information on the role. Wait… this is not music news! It is movie news. Next…

5.  R.I.P. Tony Martin (1913-2012)

Singer Tony Martin has passed away at age 98. Martin had a great career as a singer with hits like “Stranger in Paradise” in 1954, “There’s No Tomorrow” (1950) and “Walk Hand in Hand” (1956). He died of natural causes. He will be greatly missed and remembered fondly.

That’s it for this week’s music news. Join me next week for more melodic shenanigans.
