Olivia Cooke has become quite the hot commodity lately after her starring role in the indie flick Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. There have also been rumors swirling about her being on the short list of candidates for a lead role in Star Wars Episode VIII. The 21 year old’s stock doesn’t look like it’s going dive anytime soon either, now that she has landed the lead role of Art3mis in Steven Spielberg’s upcoming adaptation of Ready Player One.

Star Wars: What Is and Isn’t Canon, and Why it Matters to You

Canon; Essentially the events that unfold in any given tale that are part of the official storyline, whether that be a novel, a film, a video game, etc. 

Now, many Star Wars fans rejoiced when news broke that Disney had acquired the rights to make more Star Wars films. It also crushed others. With the announcement that when Disney purchased the rights, also came the announcement that nearly everything the fans knew as the Star Wars Expanded Universe was essentially made non-canon and re-branded as Star Wars Legends. Some of you may fondly remember the novels in The Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn or Drew Karpyshyn’s Darth Bane Trilogy. Maybe you played the video games like Shadows of the Empire or Knights of the Old Republic. All of those stories and maybe more importantly, the characters, that those games and books introduced into the Star Wars universe are no longer official and are only “real” from a certain point of view.

I Kill Giants: Movie Adaptation Coming, Zoe Saldana Joins Cast

Zoe Saldana has steadily been making appearances in some of the biggest sci-fi blockbusters in recent memory. From Avatar, to Star Trek, to Guardians of the Galaxy, she has been a staple name in some huge franchises. Saldana has now been confirmed to join the cast of I Kill Giants, a movie adaptation of the award-winning comic of the same name.

Galaxy Quest Television Series In The Works

To the fans who never gave up, and never surrendered hope, the crew of the Protector are coming to the small screen.

In April it was first announced that Paramount was shopping around potential buyers for a made for television reworking of the 1999 cult classic Galaxy Quest; a Star Trek inspired spoof that focuses on actors finding themselves in a real life sci-fi adventure.  This month Entertainment Weekly published exclusive news that Amazon Studios will be developing the project.
