You may have done a double take to make sure you read that headline right, and it’s exactly what it sounds like…sort of. No, we’re not getting an actual feature length film pitting the Dark Knight against the Dark Lord of the Sith, but Aaron Schoenke and Bat In The Sun Studios have created an epic video that does just that.
The video is part of the video series called Super Power Beatdown that features various hypothetical fights between characters we’ll never see duke it out on the silver screen. Before actually getting to the fight, they have a light debate and ask various people and personalities who they think would win and why, so we thought we would do the same. I’ll be taking up the fight for Darth Vader while the esteemed and venerable Brian Kronner will tell us why the Batman wins this fight.
I’ll start by saying that in a one on one fight Batman doesn’t stand a chance against the twisted and unstoppable evil that is Darth Vader. While Vader is mostly a blunt instrument I’ll give the edge in intelligence to the Caped Crusader, sure. While that might be enough to get Batman through most fights in which he is physically outmatched, Vader would simply be too strong a foe for him to overcome. All of Batman’s nifty gadgets and tricks are ultimately insignificant compared to the power of the Force. In fact, I would go so far as to say that Vader wouldn’t even have the need to ignite his lightsaber to dispatch Gotham’s most notorious vigilante. He could end the fight before it ever started by simply using the Force to kill Batman.
Oh Cody, my esteemed young friend – I think you’ve got some midichlorians clogging up your brain or something. Gotham’s protector is the most willful being in popular culture, and you’re pitting him against little Ani? I mean, that is still Anakin Skywalker under there right? The oh-so-easily manipulated Lord Vader? Bats would mindf**k Darth into oblivion. He’d drop Vader’s respirator quicker than an Alderaan defense shield, and that’d be all she wrote for old wheezy. Hell, he might ever become the new emperor afterward, tugging at Vader’s leash, and his redesigned Death Star would be harder to destroy than a common womp rat. After all, he’s the Goddamn Batman. – BK
So, now that the stage has been set, it’s time to drop the gloves. Check it!
So there you have it! Looks like the Batman is no match for Darth Vader in a one on one fight. What’s that Brian? There’s an alternate ending?
Well, now that you’ve seen both versions we want to hear from you! Who do you think ends up the victor and why? Let us know below in the comments here or on Facebook!
