The unique Mondo gallery in Austin, Texas has prepared a Marvel art exhibit to close out the year. Beginning on December 11, 2015, a variety of Marvel inspired art will be showcased in the “Snikt. Bamf. Thwip: A Celebration of Marvel Comics” exhibition. Take a look at featured artist, Matthew Woodson’s Daredevil piece below!
The Mondo gallery has been known to house artists from around the world and caters to audiences who appreciate and value pop culture. Their bio on their website says it more eloquently than me,
“The Mondo Gallery is a permanent art space in Austin, TX featuring a curated mix of original artwork and limited edition screen prints. Our goal is to showcase and promote artists from around the world, and provide a physical space to view, enjoy and purchase art inspired by film, television, comics and other things we love.
Past exhibits include interpretations on properties such as Disney, Game of Thrones, Universal Monsters and Marvel, and celebrate talents of top artists like Tyler Stout, Aaron Horkey, Mike Mitchell, Ken Taylor, Martin Ansin, and Drew Struzan.”
Another artist featured is Becky Cloonan, who created a Dark Phoenix print!
The gallery is excited to host this exhibition and I’m sure fans are excited to see it. According to the Co-founder and creative director, Mitch Putnam Mondo and Marvel fans alike will love this exhibit,
“It’s probably no surprise that the Marvel Comics universe holds a special place in every Mondoer’s heart. These characters inspired us, helped to shape who we are, and taught us life lessons that stuck with us forever (our own Eric Garza still pretty much thinks he’s Wolverine). We excitedly asked a handful of artists to create posters for some of our favorite comic storylines and characters. We can’t wait for you to see everything.”
The exhibition opens December 11 and closes December 19. If you are in Austin, Texas for the holidays I hope you can check it out. There will also a limited run of screen prints at the opening so make sure you pick yours up, if you’re lucky enough!
