The X-Files have been closed for more than a decade, but Agents Mulder and Scully will return next month to continue the search for the truth.
That’s right X-Philes, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will return to the small screen this coming January to reprise their roles as Agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder. The six episode run is being listed as season ten, and fans hope it will undo some of the damage done with the shows original final season, which sought to keep the show going with new characters and failed so terribly at it that the show runners poetically titled the final episode “Jump the Shark.”
With reboots and revamps making waves in both film and television, who can be trusted to bring this fan favorite back to its old glory? No one. No one, that is, but show creator Chris Carter.
“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” Carter told Entertainment Weekly. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”
The latest trailer has some familiar faces, Assistant Director Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) key among them, and is that the Smoking Man?
Fans need only wait one month to find out if they will, at long last, find the truth they are sure is still out there.
X-Files returns to Fox in a two-night premiere event January 24 & 25. See local listings for time. Are you excited about the return to this 90’s class? Let us know in the comments below, or visit Grizzly Bomb on Facebook.
