‘Muppets’ Sequel in the Works, Segel Not Writing

A sequel to the November hit musical, The Muppets, is moving into development after an announcement from Walt Disney confirmed the film. Director James Bobin and screenwriter Nicholas Stoller will be returning, but it seems as if Jason Segel won’t be returning for another round of writing for the sequel. This isn’t to say that he still won’t co-star, but he cites his commitments to “How I Met Your Mother”, as well as other projects he’s working on, as the reason he’s not returning as writer.

Now, Nicholas Stoller and Jason Segel have been collaborators for quite a long time. Stoller directed Segel’s screenplay for Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and then took over as writer and director for the spin-off, Get Him To The Greek. Both of those films are absolutely hilarious, so I have no fear that The Muppets sequel won’t be great. My hope is that Segel will return to star in the sequel, and that Bret McKinzie will also return as composer. I mean, the guy won an Oscar for “Man or Muppet”, he probably has a pretty good incentive to come back, right?

Men In Black III: The New Trailer, Giant Catfish Included!

The new trailer for Men In Black III is out! The trailer includes a giant catfish fighting Will Smith, time travel, and Josh Brolan acting as a 29-year-old Tommy Lee Jones. That last one really made my day! Check it out:

In case you missed it, here is trailer #1:

Men In Black III will be Barry Sonnenfeld’s most potentially disastrous film of the series… at least that is what I gathered from an interview he did with Empire magazine. In this interview, he told Empire that they began filming MIB III with NO ENDING to the script! This, to me, screams professional as f–k. However, to his credit, the trailers look pretty impressive. The plot is also pretty unique.

10 Minutes of Disney’s ‘John Carter’!

Disney is not messing around with it’s final big marketing push for their blockbuster hopeful John Carter, because now they’ve made what appears to be the first ten minutes of the sci-fi action flick available for all to see! Just don’t be expecting to see anything taking place on Mars or even a glimpse of any type of alien. But I have to say the creepy voice over at the end is worth it at the end. He made me very uncomfortable:

Not too shabby in my opinion. I think after seeing almost 20 minutes of the movie via various clips that have been released and all of the positive reviews thus far that John Carter is almost guaranteed to be a damn good movie not only for fans of the sci-fi genre, but even the casual movie goer as well. Disney is banking a lot on this high budget flick to spawn into a franchise and it definitely has a shot if it can draw out the moviegoers even with current box office champ The Lorax only going into it’s second weekend. The Lorax made $70 Million plus this weekend and is sure to still snag the family audiences away from John Carter and it’s PG 13 rating. Best of luck to him and all those four armed green fellas though!

Peter Jackson and His ‘Hobbit’ Video Blogs

Just watched another riveting behind the scenes video of The Hobbit franchise as Peter Jackson gave us his 6th installment, and the first we’ve seen in quite some time.  After the longest 12 minutes I’ve experienced since right before I walked out of Star Wars: Episode One, I learned virtually nothing about the film, but a lot about New Zealand.  Like they have thorn bushes.  And floods.  And everything is pretty.  It kind of felt like I was watching a really boring old dude’s vacation with his family Dungeons and Dragons buddies.
