Scream Factory Celebrates Anniversary With Deluxe Release Of The Thing

Man Is The Warmest Place To Hide

It is with this tag-line, and a truly inspired piece of poster art that John Carpenter introduced the alien horror epic that is The Thing  back in 1982. Much like Labyrinth, this film failed to find its core audience during that initial theatrical run. Probably didn’t help it opened against Blade Runner, splitting the Sci-Fi crowd, and the fact that E.T. owned the box office for most of the year, winning the box office 16 of the first 26 weekends following its release. Still, The Thing has a strong cult following, and holds up well today with some amazing performances and stunning practical effects.

Stephen King’s IT: We Have A New Pennywise…

“I’m every nightmare you’ve ever had. I’m your worst dream come true. I’m everything you ever were afraid of.”

It’s been a while since we checked in on the new production of Stephen King’s IT. When last we wrote about it (Dec. 2014), there had been no casting announced, all we knew was Cary Fukunaga was at the helm, and following the first season of HBO’s True Detective, he was about the hottest name around. It was the announcement of Fukunaga as director that had people so excited for the project. In May of 2015 they cast Will Poulter to play the infamous clown, but just days later things started to unravel;

Thor: Ragnarok – Valkyrie, Urban, Goldblum, and Planet Hulk?

“In Norse mythology, Ragnarök is a series of future events, including a great battle, foretold to ultimately result in the death of a number of major figures (including the gods Odin, Thor, Týr, Freyr, Heimdallr, and Loki), the occurrence of various natural disasters, and the subsequent submersion of the world in water.”

While Thor: Ragnarök still is a while away, there have been several updates recently, all following rumors of some hiccups in production. Around the beginning of the year we reported about the rumored, now confirmed, casting of Cate Blanchett as Hela the Goddess of Death.  Mark Ruffalo is also confirmed as he reprises his role as Bruce Banner.

Don’t Breathe: Trailer Teaches Us Never To Underestimate Stephen Lang

“A trio of reckless thieves breaks into the house of a wealthy blind man, thinking they’ll get away with the perfect heist. They’re wrong.”

In the infancy of Grizzly Bomb, we spent a lot of time talking about The Party Crasher. And while he’s mostly been retired from the rotation around here, we’ll never stop being fans. The Party Crasher was, of course, a character played by Stephen Lang in the seminal 1991 comedy The Hard Way. [Duh.] Anyway, Mr. Lang is starring in an upcoming thriller called Don’t Breathe, in which he plays a helpless old blind man…probably.

Check out the trailer;

Film Imitating Film? Nicholas Winding Refn Compares Alien To Planet of the Vampires

Is Alien a rip off of the Mario Bava flick Planet of Vampires?

They say that life imitates art, but what happens when art imitates art? Well, sometimes lawsuits, but most of the time we see great homages to movie scenes taken from classic (and not so classic) films. This often gives the scenes new life in someone else’s vision.
