Never to be outdone by the competition, DC and Marvel both premiered some interesting footage at E3 that showed off some of their new games. What’s interesting is they are both fighting games, though pretty different from each other. Let’s start with Marvel, who premiered The Avengers: Battle for Earth. First stop is the teaser trailer:
Gotta say I’m not entirely floored by what I’m seeing, but I guess we’ll have to wait until we see a bit more. Let’s head on over to the DC side of things with Injustice: Gods Among Us.
Brought to us by NetherRealm Studios, the creator of the Mortal Koimbat series, you know this is the game to get geared up for. This isn’t the first time NetherRealm has been able to work with the DC stable of characters, so there is a sense of familiarity. But it’s easy to see they upped the ante. I’m talking too much. Let’s watch the trailer.
Now that looks like a good fighting game. It looks like the game will also feature a roster around 20 characters with only Superman, Batman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Solomon Grundy and Harley Quinn announced so far. Here’s a little more about the game:
Injustice: Gods Among Us is the latest game from the team, and creative director at NetherRealm Studios Ed Boon says that this game will really feel like a knock-down, drag-out fight between super-beings. When Superman and Wonder Woman punch each other in the face, the resultant force will cause major damage to the environments. And you will jump between different areas of Metropolis, etc. as the fights rage on.
Here’s an interview from E3 with NetherRealm’s Ed Boon that shows some gameplay and delves a bit deeper into the game.
Still sounds pretty good from me. Here are some pics and screen shots to further entice you:
Looking very cool. I gotta give the win to DC in the first impression department. Can’t wait to hear more about each of these games.
