Avengers: Age of Ultron – 5 Unanswered Questions From The New Trailer

It wouldn’t be a new year without a new Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer. The titan studio released the new AoU trailer during ESPN’s College Football National Championship game. The trailer arrives in the wake of last week’s Ant Man trailer debut, which was aired during the premiere of new primetime TV show, Agent Carter. Right on schedule, the second trailer (while still withholding Vision) shows us several new clips, and as per usual we’re bursting with questions.

1.What’s Up with the Hulk?

Hulkmad

Green monsters aren’t our forte here, but we’d like to think we know a little something about Hulks. What we know so far is that the Hulk/Hulkbuster sequence was shot in South Africa, and obviously, Stark being a man of multiple contingency plans, has prepared for a Hulk-freakout moment. But what would bring the Avenger’s resident goliath to such public destruction? Looking closer at the stills, you’ll notice that Hulk’s eyes are red! Will we finally see stages of the other “Hulks” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Or could this be some sort of manipulation by Scarlet Witch? Time will tell, but it’s certainly something to think about.

2. How Broad is Ultron’s Reach?

Any fanboy knows that catastrophic events are a bi-product of all super-heroic battles (we’re looking at you, Man of Steel), but there seems to be a rather healthy dose of carnage and destruction in the Age of Ultron trailer. Seemingly some of this is caused by Iron Man & Hulk’s epic fight, but surely Ultron and his robotic horde have a hand in it as well. It also shows that we’ll see the Avengers in multiple international locations this time around. So now we’re curious to know, how far does Ultron get in his quest of eradicating the human race? And are the Avenger’s too late? So many questions, where the hell is Jarvis when you need him?

3. Inner-Team Quarrels, Again?

The first Avengers paints the titular heroes as a dysfunctional family, so it comes as no surprise that they’re at it again. Yet, something seems off here. In two instances we see a set of Avenger teammates square off: the first being Hulkbuster and Hulk having a street level no-holds-barred brawl, and the second one Thor and Tony Stark have an exchange of words, and maybe a choke-hold here and there. So what’s causing the team to unravel this time around? Could we see the foreshadowings of Captain America: Civil War? Things are definitely getting dark, and we’re eating it up.

4. Are These Signs of Wakanda?

Since last year’s Marvel announcement of the next phase in their cinematic lineup, it’s time we look for clues in current and future films. Marvel has a proven track record of leaving fanboy Easter eggs.  In this still we see Andy Serkis as (we presume) Ulysses Klaw, one of the leading scientists specializing in vibranium. Klaw also doubles as one of the Black Panther’s most formidable adversaries. If you didn’t know, vibranium is one of Wakanda’s natural resources. And we have a hunch that Ultron may be crafted out of the same indestructible metal, so we may get to see Wakanda sooner than we thought! Field trip, anyone?

5. Who is the Mystery Woman?

Woman

One of the most head-turning shots in the trailer happens to be the above, disrobing, in what appears to be a cave. Now it’s clear that she could be of Wakandan decent, and so far there are two theories in the fan boy realm. One being she could be Shuri, Black Panther’s younger, totally badass sister. Shuri shares the same abilities with her brother and has ruled as the titular Panther monarch in the past. The second possibility is our mystery lady could be one of the Dora Milaje, the Wakandan royal guard that consist of all female warriors . We’re leaning towards the former. There is a third school of thought that ties this in with the shot of Thor in a similar pool from the first trailer, making a possible Asgardian connection here as well.

What are your thoughts on the new trailer? If you’re anything like us, May 1st couldn’t get here fast enough.
