But fear not, there is more!  I thought it was time we collected everything in one spot. If you can’t tell, I’m pretty excited for this movie. For almost my whole life I’ve wondered what was up with this dude – the space jockey from the original Alien film, now we’re gonna find out.

Let’s start with the videos. Here is one we haven’t posted before, part of their viral marketing.  In the same vein as the Peter Weyland video, this is more about the company and deals with the creation of androids, in the footsteps of Ian Holm and Lance Henriksen.

Next is the new UK Trailer, which takes a totally different approach from the American spots, and adds in some footage we’ve not see yet…

New Extended Trailer for ‘Prometheus’: Connection to ALIEN Now Undeniable

Despite Director Ridely Scott’s claims that his upcoming Prometheus is only vaguely related to his Sci-Fi/Horror classic Alien, the more footage that comes out, the clearer it becomes the films are unmistakably related. Last month we saw the clip of  Guy Pierce‘s character ‘Peter Weyland’ giving a speech and hinting towards the technology that would make possible the later space exploration. Now we have an extended look…

So, we have the music from the original, the ship from the original, the space jockey, LV-426, and the Weyland Company.

Yup, clearly not a prequel.

Prometheus: New Video Gives Us Our ‘ALIEN’ Link

Ridley Scott is getting ready to release one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and the main reason for the anticipation is the films ‘Prequel’ status relative to one of the greatest Sci-Fi movies ever made – Alien.

Well now Scott is saying that the connections to the beloved franchise with the acid-blooded antagonists is going to be more obscure than originally planned, and I don’t believe him. That’s not to say I’m expecting Michael Fassbender‘s chest to explode 20 minutes into the movie, but I do think we’re gonna see more than he claims.

What he is claiming is that Guy Pierce‘s character – ‘Peter Weyland’  – is gonna be our only real tie to the historic series of movies. Fans of the movies will remember that ‘Ellen Ripley’ and ‘Captain Dallas’ worked for ‘Weyland-Yutani‘. Peter Weyland is presumably the son or grandson of Lance Henriksen‘s AVP character ‘Charles Bishop Weyland’. Weyland’s company eventually merged with The Yutani Comapny, who were featured in possession of a ‘Predator Arm Cannon’ at the end of AVP: Requiem.

Anyhow, here’s the video…

Now this, combined with the ship on LV-426 that we remember from the first 2 movies, which has already been featured in the Prometheus trailer, lead me to believe that this story is gonna be more ingrained that he wants to let on.

Guess we wont know for sure though until June 8th…

Michael Fassbender Confirmed in ‘The Counselor’

As was predicted in our previous update on this story, Deadline reports that Michael Fassbender will indeed take the starring role of Ridley Scott’s next film, The Counselor. There’s not a lot of major information regarding the film yet, seeing as production hasn’t even started (That’ll begin this May), but we do know that Fassbender will play a lawyer who misguidedly takes a stab at the drug business and suffers the consequences.

So far The Counselor is knocking it out of the park. A script written by the original author of No Country for Old Men, directed by the man behind the camera for Blade Runner, and starring one of this generations fastest rising talents. I can’t wait to see who’s next to jump aboard this awesome project and you can bet I’ll be paying close attention to all future developments.

International ‘Prometheus’ Trailer: Giddyness to Follow

So I am pretty sure that everyone has heard about Prometheus, the next Ridley Scott joint, which was supposed to be the prequel to Alien, but ended up being branched off into a separate story. That alone makes me excited just because Ridley Scott has always been a great director, and if anyone can actually bring a good story together and make it visually appealing without having to Michael Bay the crap out of it, I’m game. It’s never good when nowadays, you have Spielberg trying to out-Spielberg himself constantly.
I am really excited for this movie because I think if Alien was the most underrated sci-fi flick of all time (mostly due to the superior ‘Aliens’ from Mr. Titanic/Avatar himself). Plus the cast is not one to sneeze at with Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce, Michael Fassbender, Patrick Wilson, Logan Marshall-Green, and Noomi Rapace. So yeah, seeing the teaser, it looked awesome. Plus co-written by one of the creators of Lost (Damon Lindelof and John Spaihts being the other co-writer) it promises to be good times. Below is actually the new international trailer and I have not watched it yet. Shall we do that right now after the break?

So that was a subtle trailer. Just let you know that stuff is about to go down, maybe a face hugger or two, maybe some psychological issues, and some giant ass monumental about to wreck your crap. I’m sold. Even if I can’t tell if it comes off more Alien than Event Horizon…which isn’t a bad thing because Event Horizon still creeps me out. Just sayin’. I just expect raptors to show up and clever girl people when Sam Neill is on the screen.

Ridley Scott to Direct Cormac McCarthy’s ‘The Counselor’

In a story that brings together two auteurs lauded in their respective fields, Entertainment Weekly reports Ridley Scott has signed on to direct Cormac McCarthy’s first ever screenplay, The Counselor. The Gladiator director plans to start production in May, making it his next project after the much-anticipated Prometheus. That would, as expected, push Scott’s secretive Blade Runner picture further down the production line, but it’s something I can personally make exception for, since this is a collaboration I’d never have imagined possible. EW also stated that Scott is hoping to bring along Prometheus star Michael Fassbender to The Counselor, who would star in the lead role.

McCarthy’s screenplay has been described by insiders as “No Country For Old Men on steroids,” according to Deadline, a bold statement considering the effect the Oscar-winning No Country had on audiences. We’ve reported on The Counselor before, but in case you need a refresher here’s a synopsis of the story from Deadline:

“The protagonist in The Counselor is a respected lawyer who thinks he can dip a toe in to the drug business without getting sucked down. It is a bad decision and he tries his best to survive it and get out of a desperate situation.”

I’m ecstatic to hear this news and I’ll be keeping up on all the newest updates.
