Released today were a couple of Marvel Promo posters that feature a cool look at Captain America, and our first official look at The Avengers all together. There have been a few fan made posters released, but this is the first time it’s actually coming from Marvel. Now these are both hand drawn, so it’s not as epic as the team coming together for a photo shoot or anything, but still pretty cool.

I think we’ve really own scratched the surface of Original Web Series that are floating around on the web. We’ve talked about a couple, such as the new Mortal Kombat: Legacy series, and the funny yet frightening Psycho Ex-Girlfriend. So now I think it’s time to bring you another series that I have become a huge fan of. It’s called Avengers Assemble. It takes a look into the more humorous, and often more human side of the Avengers.
The series starts off with an average Avengers meeting. But as the season progresses you get to see a cast full of hilarious versions of our favorite characters in a sometimes raunchy, often times hilarious, and most times refreshing parody of the Avengers; tasked by Human Resources and dealing with budget cut. I could keep rambling but I think I’ll just show you the first episode:

It’s been a little while since we’ve heard any news about Captain America: The First Avenger, so I was happily surprised to see 3 new character teaser posters released. They feature Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/ Captain America, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, and Hugo Weaving as Johann Schmidt/ Red Skull.

TV and Superheroes rarely mix well, and on the off-chance they do it probably isn’t the best representation of superheroes on the market. Smallville worked, Lois & Clark kind of worked. That’s… about… it. So it’s obviously time to present a list about some of these less than awesome superhero shows. The problem was I had TOO many shows/TV movies to choose from, so I expect to hear about what I’ve missed or that my choices suck or that I need to put down the fork. Wait, what? Anyways, let’s get to the list. We didn’t stick to comic heroes, because sometimes the ones created just for television pretty much define this list.
It’s possible this show missed a lot of people’s radar as it was a Canadian TV series, but it aired in syndication in the States. I personally loved this show as a kid, but giving it another look kind brought shame to my younger self. Might have to re-evaluate my love for Biker Mice From Mars.
My Secret Identity is basically Back to the Future meets The Sentry, except no god like powers or Time Travel. Let me explain. Jerry O’ Connell, the fat kid from Stand By Me (he probably hates it when people call him that) plays Andrew Clements, a 14-year-old kid who is zapped by a photon beam while helping his neighbor, 4th smartest man in the world Dr. Benjamin Jeffcoat (the fact that he’s a smart guy inventor dude is obviously the B2TF connection), played by Derek McGrath. Obviously, this grants him super powers (a la The Sentry… sort of). Super speed, Invulnerability, and levitation, with super strength added in later seasons, because why not? He actually used aerosol cans to direct his flight for a time, but that was changed pretty quick.
If you recognized his friend Kirk, played by Christopher Bolton, then you’ve probably seen another Canadian show called Rent-A-Goalie, and I applaud you. Regardless, this show is a terrible excuse at a superhero show, made even more so with Degrassi level quality and Canadian film mentalities. No offense to my homeland’s cinema, but… well…
Fans of Marvel’s Ultimate line will in no way be surprised to hear that once again, a new creative team will be taking the reins of the line and completely changing the status quo. It happened before when Jeph Loeb took over and brought about the insane Ultimatum series, which had wide sweeping effects across the whole universe. Basically, every character you really liked ended up dying horribly tragic deaths.
So we were then given Ultimate Comics, a fresh take on what was left of the Ultimates Universe, but it was bogged down with poor shipping schedules and unconnected storylines. So now it has been announced that the new creators Jonathan Hickman and Nick Spencer are coming in to turn the Ultimate U. into a more cohesive involved universe, promising at least monthly shipping and another batch of wide sweeping chances to kick off after the “Death of Spider-Man” storyline currently running in Brian Michael Bendis’ Ultimate Spider-Man.
