Batman Live: World Arena Tour Revealed…

Now it seems like ages ago when I first reported on Batman Live, the arena event that brings Batman and friends to your neighborhood. Most people were definitely put off by this announcement, especially during all the problems the musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark was experiencing.

Of course the major difference is that Batman Live: World Arena Tour is NOT a musical. It’s more of a stage show to be enjoyed by the whole family. Still, it’s hard to see Batman on stage in a family friendly experience. Regardless, let’s take a look at the characters being featured, and the costumes.

It’s like the love child of ‘Batman Forever’ and ‘Batman and Robin’

Okay, so they could all be worse. Keep in mind that they are amped up in order to stand out in the large dark arenas, and to appeal to the kiddies. I’m not going to spend the time here critiquing every costume, because they already did that over at ComicsAlliance. Let’s see if a video is any better. Check out the trailer:

Wow…um, okay. Check out this sneak preview of the show:

DCNu: 52 Brand New #1’s – Batman

Renumbering. It’s a tried and true method of bringing up sales, as well as introducing new readers into the story. Renumbering a popular title is most often done when a high-numbered series is receiving a new creative team, new storyline etc. Spider-Man has done it a few times, The Ultimate Marvel line has done it a few times, but DC has remained relatively unscathed by this trend.

Until now…

Batman: Arkham City – Catwoman Revealed

It’s time for some huge Batman: Arkham City news, so prepare yourself. Now we all knew that Catwoman was going to feature heavily in the game, but nobody was sure exactly how she would fit in.

We first saw her as the typical damsel in distress with Two-Face hanging her over a giant vat of acid, and it was assumed this was a mission for Batman to rescue his sometimes lady love. With the release of the latest trailer, we learn that her involvement in the game is much more hands on.

Batman’s Top 10 Best Graphic Novels

The following is a list consisting of what I feel to be the 10 Best Graphic Novels or Trades, featuring the Batman of today. This is a collection of books that can be bought stand alone. For this reason I’ve avoided stories like Knightfall, where you would need to buy 3 volumes to get through the read. Or No Man’s Land, which I love, but it has 5 volumes, and even if you were to purchase all 5 of them, that still covers only 40 of the 80 original issues.

The books on this list though are must-reads for anyone who is a fan of the Bat…

Judgement on Gotham In-Depth Comic Review

Judgment on Gotham was a four part story arc that went through two issues of Batman one issue of Gotham Sirens and one issue of Red Robin. I missed the Gotham Sirens issue that the arc featured in, but after reading the other three comics it didn’t seem necessary to read Gotham Sirens. Even Red Robin seemed like it wasn’t necessary if you just read the Batman issues. I will be reviewing the story arc’s three issues that I read as one.

The story worked because it was only three issues (four if you read the Gotham Sirens issue) that were for the most part pretty fast paced and it used religion the right way, in my opinion at least. I’m not the authority on what the right way is. It’s always a gamble when religion is used in any medium. People will either be okay with it or be offended. But in this case it didn’t make a mockery of it and it didn’t push it on anyone. In one issue it even made the story pretty remarkable. I enjoyed the arc as much as the next Bat fan, though it seemed a bit average.

Gratuitous Batman Updates: Arkham City, Dark Knight Rises, & the Comics…

VIDEO GAME
We got all sorts of stuff here. Let’s start with the game. The other day I did a write up on the upcoming Arkham City game. In said article I mentioned how the Riddler’s clues were now gonna be more…involved. Well it seems like the man himself will be more involved as well. Unlike the first game it seem like Riddler will actually appear in this one, not just his voice.

Riddler
Rocksteady Marketing Game Manager Dax Ginn: The Riddler experience is not part of the main story, but you can see how much work we put into it. It seems to do them a disservice to call them ‘side missions,’ because we take them really, really seriously.
