Avengers Assemble – Episodes 201, 202, & 203

Welcome to the second season of Avengers Assemble: The Series! And I of course mean welcome to OUR look at the second season, as it started a few months ago.

*ahem*

Anyway, The second season started off with a bang and kept on rolling with more hilarity and problems for the Avengers. Things to look forward to? Tony uses the Iron Man armor as collateral, Wonder Man’s sexuality is questioned, and the ridiculously awesome Mexican Avengers.

Edgar Wright’s ‘Ant-Man’ Close to Ready, but ‘The World’s End’ with Pegg/Frost Beckons First…

The Avengers has decided to earn a decent amount of change over the last week (probably the GDP of most small countries but minor details) so what’s next? Obviously we have Iron Man 3, followed by Thor 2, then Captain America 2, and another Avengers, but could there possibly be something more added to the mix? Edgar Wright shared a pic on his twitter detailing that since Disney and Marvel are all going Scrooge McDuck and diving and swimming in their profits, they decided to give Wright some confidence in his Ant-Man project. Yes, that one that has been in the works seemingly forever. But it would make sense to get him to the next Avengers movie. Also money talks. That too.

But first, and possibly more importantly, it looks like Edgar Wright is reuniting with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost to finish what they started. They are coming together again to write and shoot The World’s End by the end of the year for a Spring 2013 release. Yes, you may geek out. Details you ask? Look below my friends via EW and Deadline:

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

Yep. it’ll be cool. I’m glad Edgar Wright has a few jobs because we need him out there. Just because Scott Pilgrim solidified him as one of my favorite directors out there. He’s out there for the greater good. The greater good.

Japanese Trailer for ‘THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN’

So, sometimes in the haze of all the hype surrounding The Avengers, Marvel is also putting out another movie this year that looks pretty solid – Ghost Rider 2 The Amazing Spider-Man. And I’m not just saying that because Dennis Leary is playing Gwen Stacy’s dad. After the disaster that was Spiderman 3, I’m glad they didn’t wait too long to reboot things and get that taste out of my mouth.

Anyway, much like with The Avengers, the Japanese trailer gives us some previously unseen footage, and had got me a bit more pumped for that movie than I was yesterday. Anyhow, without further ado, here it is…

The Avengers: New Trailer, Much Better.

So I haven’t been shy about the fact that the only thing I took from the early Avengers footage was Captain America’s new costume looks fricking stupid. Well, now we have a new trailer, and, well – Holy Shit, that’s what we were looking for. There were 2 moments in particular that I loved, but you should watch it first and then we’ll talk more…

SO – There it is. For me, I absolutely loved the ‘Iron Man vs Thor’ clip, as well as the part where the Hulk leaping in the air and caught Iron Man. Those were awesome. I wasn’t overly impressed by the first few trailers (teaser, Super Bowl) but this one really did it for me.

Is it May 4th yet?

Toy Fair 2012: Lego, Hulk Hands, & HOVERBOARDS!

Toy Fair 2012 wraps up today in the city that never sleeps and from action figures to high-tech toys to creepy Barbies that take photos and then display them on their stomach there’s something for everyone.

Always staying relevant and taking it to the next level is LEGO who debuted a whole bunch of Lord of the Rings activity sets as well as sets for The Avengers and Deadpool.

LEGO’s ninja-themed playset NINJAGO Fire Temple was good enough to win Activity Toy of the Year award but makes me glad I don’t have kids yet when I see the $120 price tag. Yikes!

Perhaps one of the weirdest/coolest/most useless items available this year is the opportunity to pre-order an authentic replica Back to the Future hover board! It does disclaim actual hovering but does allow you to release your inner Marty McFly for what is still an undisclosed price until early March.
