Spirit of Vengeance Trailer: Ghost Rider Rides Again! And Pees!

Lets be honest about the first Ghost Rider movie not being very good. It failed me in almost every way. Sure Ghost Rider looked cool, but the story was weak, the villain was weak and Nic Cage was super weak. But hopefully all of that will change with the upcoming sequel that’s not a sequel called Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Now personally, I thought this is the type of movie that could have went straight to DVD but Hollywood has other plans. Ghost Rider has a new look in this one, his skull visage still aflame but completely charred black. He looks a lot more no nonsense as he thrashes bad guys with his chains even while they’re driving and spits bullets into their faces. That sounds terrible but just watch the trailer to see:

As you can see this one seems to be a bit more violent, which is good because there isn’t anything too cuddly and nice when it comes to Ghost Rider. For me he’s like the Punisher in supernatural mode. The part at the end with him peeing fire kind of killed it for me but I’ll still be at the theater checking it out when the time comes.

Thor out of a Job? – Meet Tanarus ‘New God of Thunder’

Things don’t look too great for the Asgardians during the mega-event that is Fear Itself in the Marvel Universe right now. So it would make sense that a few people won’t make it through the arc unscathed. Take Thor for instance, after his epic throw down with the worthy versions of Hulk and Thing as Nul and Angrir respectively, he’s not looking too good. Does that mean after fear itself there could possibly be a new god of thunder? According to the following teaser from Marvel via IGN, that’s exactly what it means.

I have no idea who Tanarus is either, because I know you’re all scratching your heads the same as me. That, or you’re vomiting uncontrollably because you think this is a terrible idea. I don’t mind it because I don’t know where the hell they could possibly be going with this. Thor has disappeared so many times in the last several years that I’m sort of used to it at this point. And either way you know it will be on a strictly temporary basis and even more temporary if sales take a nose dive. Also I don’t have one clue who Tanarus is, other than the two teasers above. I’m hoping for entertainment’s sake he doesn’t suck hind wind, but I suppose we’ll see in November when he makes his debut in ‘The Mighty Thor #8‘ written by none other than Matt Fraction. (Fear Itself and most things Thor.)

Comic-Con International ’11 – Costumes, Dayman, Toys, Comics, Movies… Do You Need Any More?

Comic-Con International may be over, but our coverage of it is not. There was just so much  that came out of this year, but I have to say it wasn’t quite as heavy hitting as last year’s Con. There’s a cool link about the Winners and Losers of Comic-Con to further illustrate my point.

Let’s get to the news! We’re going rapid-fire again so try to keep up!

DC Nu: Brand New #1’s – ‘Solo Heroes’

Welcome to the latest edition of Grizzly Bomb’s look at the DC Nu. It’s the ‘don’t call it a reboot’ reboot of 52 DC titles, all starting over at #1 (or getting their actual first issue, it’s a little confusing at times). So far Darth Saeris and myself have taken a look at the Batman titles, the Green Lantern titles, Superman, and the Teen Heroes of the DC Universe. And that puts us somewhere below half way done. This is epically huge and far-reaching, and news hits every day regarding the DCNu.

So personal feelings aside, which do involve excitement mixed with trepidation, I think DC has if nothing else, mastered the buzz level needed for this kind of undertaking. Everybody’s talking about this. And then on the flip side, everybody wonders what’s going on over at Marvel to match this. Well, we’ll talk about Marvel soon enough…

This edition we will be covering some of the more Solo heroes of the DCNu. Well, solo after the reboot, or during, sometime in the past, ongoing series, LeBron James…52…52…52… Continue reading DC Nu: Brand New #1’s – ‘Solo Heroes’
